Singapore Garden Festival!

Because of the stupid flu virus, I had to cancel so many things I planned.. sigh.. cannot go shopping and watch movie with friends, cannot play mahjong and eat prata, and the long-awaited karaoke session, and cannot go to the Singapore Garden Festival again! Clara just reminded me about it when she asked me, cos she's going with her Grandma. So fillial aye haha.. And I wanted to go again, because I didnt have enough time to appreciate everything! My mum and aunt walked so fast, we finished everything in less than 2 hrs (Straits Times recommended 2-3 hrs u know..) but I think no chance already, cos of the stupid flu, I almost couldn't breathe yesterday la! Luckliy today much better.

Talking about the Singapore Garden Festival, I went on Sunday and I loved it so much! The gardens were really beautiful, nothing I've seen before, like paradise, while the flowers were so pretty they looked so fake! It's really a combination of nature and human. Who says man can't live with nature? haha..I really recommend you guys to go before it ends on 25! Besides the tics are really cheap.. cos I'm a student, and weekday half price somemore. so go go go before it's gone!

I've just finished watching a J-dorama, Psycho Doctor, starring my favourite Japanese actor, Takenouchi Yutaka( 竹野内丰) and I love the song sung by Ken Hirai! (Of course I like Yutaka also la haha) But can't find it anywhere on the net, not even a preview or whatsoever. Anyone heard of it? It's titled "Ring". Then reminds me of the very touching, sentimental ballad, Hitomi wo Tojite, the theme song of that sensational movie, Crying Out Love In The Centre of the World （在世界中心呼唤 爱）. Very long title man! Ken Hirai's voice is amazing! Ya! Damn nice...Actually I think the first song I heard sung by him was Ookina Furutokei (古老的大鐘 ).I think it's the same tune as Grandfather's Clock or something. Very nice song also! Then as I browse youtube, came across this song LakuEn quite nice also haha..

Finally! Elva's releasing her new album SOON... but I don't know when... I think it's such a shame that she has been neglected for so long! In my eyes, she's the real DIVA.. better than ... What's up??

It's quite ironic how I blog more during exams compared to holidays! Guess cos during exams stay at home everyday, so damn sian, then blog lor.. have been going out for quite a few days.. this whole week must stay home cos of my toopid wisdom tooth..

Anyway, just started watching 花样少年少女 on youtube, & I like it a lot! Now waiting for pple to upload episode 4...

It's such a funny an interesting Taiwanese drama（偶像剧）! Partly because of the interesting plot, and partly because of the cast! Ella's damn cute! Jiro also! Very funny lor.. & Wu Zun is so 帅！！My sis got 电到了！ Haha..And I love love love the big big furry dog!! It's so huggable!! so beautiful!! haha...

Yesterday wasted my time watching the 红星大奖. If not for 郑元畅 & 戚玉武 I wouldn't watch lor.. so many rubbish pple.. & sad la.. 戚玉武 didnt win best actor! He acted so well in 邢警二人组！李南星win so many times liao.. humph..

SHIOK!!!

It's truly SHIOK!!! After 4 months of weeks and weeks of tests and thr horrible exam which just ended 4 hrs ago, I finally can R & R (rest & relax)!!! Wa lao.. the past 4 months really ah.. can't describe la.. worst sem ever...but I'm glad it's all over! As for today's exam, I can only laugh. haha.. cannot make it..

And the NTU survey! The cute Indian professor with a very funny presentation! He's actually featured in Digital Life today! ! About his video on youtube. DOn't play play k, he received numerous Teacher of the Year Awards before!

So the other time when I received the youtube link from my friend, it was already 12 + midnite, and my laughters actually startled my family! I laughed until cry lei... damn funny. He's such an interesting teacher haha.. not angry, but yet willing to share the fun hee..

Cheapest next to Chinatown, according to his fans who checked it out haha.. I actually bought a Japanese album, with 5 songs & 5 instrumentals for $30+! But it's all worth it, cos "my prince's" voice is soooo nice! hhaaha.. And it comes with a DVD somemore.. 听觉上加视觉上的享受。。

Jpop's really rather different from Mandopop. And this Japanese album's rather differnt from his Korean songs too..The Japanese album has more fast-paced / lively songs. He has the groove! But he doesn't dance hee..

Yeah you didn't see wrongly. I also actually bought his Korean compilation! Can't believe it right.. But I don't anyhow buy for no reason k.. His voice's really good. Very soothing, at times very gentle, but at times can be very powerful! And very clear.. And his vibrato - cool!

Rather different from her previous album, 丝路。觉得梁静茹这次的声音放得比较柔，蛮多假音，而且越来越有女人味，唱的情歌也越来越有感动度。情歌天后 - 实至名归！

So happy today! Finally can log onto the net after like 2 weeks? And I realised how dependent I am on the internet. I need to log in everyday to do some stupid things. Without the internet, I feel quite "empty". So that's how technology affects me.

And I screwed up my last 2 CAs.. so irritating.. I don't think I can ever finish studying for exams.. heck..

Anyway, I was listening to the radio the other day, n heard 杨乃文's (Faith Yang) new song. I don't think many people know of her, cos she doesn't sing mainstream MandoPop songs. Only noticed her somw time back after listening to 静止 & 我给的爱. She's cool! Love her attitude, n her very unique voice. And her songs are very different. Looking forward to her new album..

double personality?

haha... today my friend told me she was a bit "shocked" when she visited this blog here. She said that I project a very different onine persona! haha.. so she thinks a haf a double personality. Maybe I do, further more I'm a Gemini - shuang1 zi3 zuo4 lei haha..

Aiya today went karaoke damn shiok. But I think 3hrs really not enough haha.. friends, next time go for 5hr one ok? hahaha..

Anyway, was just flipping through the newspapers today, and I feel, how come the world is becoming like that.. "No wheelchairs allowed in candy shops as they may destroy the goods", "trim off or cut down the trees as they are blocking my view", "ban pets from reservoirs as they dirty the place". I think people's tolerance level's getting super low..Sigh...

And talking about my teeth, my heart sank a little after yesterday's visit, cos of the retainers. Now I'm talking so funnily - lou4 feng1! Can't believe it.. my sis n mum kept laughing at me.. sigh.. Aiya but at least it's better than having braces la hee..

yay!

I have never been so happy for a long time! Wow! After 3yrs & 10 mths, my torturous braces are finally out of my life!!! I can finally eat sticky, chewy n hard foods, can yawn with my mouth wide open without having to be startled by the rubber bands snapping, can laugh as wide as my mouth can open n not worry abt my ugly braces showing, can smile properly in front of cameras & can use a normal toothbrush!

3yrs n 10mths ago, i was still in a dilemma - didn't know whether I should go put on braces cos worried n scared haha.. n when i saw my extracted tooth, i thought - wat a waste! that tooth still looked so good, n the root was sooo long! y did i haf such a "nice" tooth extracted out for no reason.. poor tooth ahahah..

And throughout the torturous journey, I have endured countless days of pain n "suan-ness" after tightening of wires, n hundreds of ulcers, numerous ugly photos with the braces showing, & of course not to forgot the $$! Not only the charges, but also my transport fees! The frequent orthodontic appointments where I often had to wait quite long...

And now, 3 yrs n 10mthS have passed, n I can't believe that's my set of teeth! No brackets, no wires, no rubber bands! And most importantly, it's unbelievably straight! ahhahaa.. Think the 3 yrs n 10 mths n the strength of the orthodentist didn't go to waste! Oh strength - cos she often has to use a lot of strength to push n twist wires, pull open my mouth etc.. hahaha..

Korean Movie: Daisy

Heard the song being played on 933 last night, so I thought I'll share the MV with you guys. I watched a Korean film earlier this year, titled Daisy, starring the beautiful Jeon Ji-Hyun (全智贤, Jung Woo-sung (郑宇成) & Lee Sung-jae, directed by Andrew Lau (who directed Infernal Affairs (无间道). I was surprised that I would like this movie (as I usually don't watch Korean shows), and although it was rather slow-moving at times despite some exciting action scenes, I thought it was a really beautiful and sad movie, with a fantastic accompanying OST.

Set in The Netherlands, It's about this professional killer who falls for this beautiful painter, who at the same time, is in love with another Korean guy who's a cop, due to some "unforeseen circumstances". You see, this mysterious guy (the killer) has been sending her a pot of daisies everyday, and 1 day she mistook the cop for this mysterious admirer, falling for him. You may think it's a typical storyline, but many unexpected events happened, and it became a tragedy.

Watch it for:
1)beautiful scenery - loved the green green fields with daisies.
2)beautiful cinematography - some suspenseful action scenes, location shots of Netherlands etc
3) great cast - wonderful acting by the cast. Few words are spoken, but all the emotions are written on their faces. Jeon Ji-Hyun's really beautiful! The killer's suave, & romantic!he actually built a bridge for the girl! gosh..
4)the music - Especially the theme song with accompanying lyrics about the protagonist's feelings. It was so touching I shed a few tears in the cinema...

Memories..

Went back to my alma matar today, as our dear Principal was leaving. She's such a nice & respectable principal. Fun-loving & humorous, always reminding us of the Peranakan history of the school, how to be "kim geks" haha..

many memories just rushed back as my friends & I walked back - the walkway with lots of millipedes & centipedes in the morning whenever it rains, the music room where we haf music lessons n where i got to know of the great musicals, the dance studio which i can only admire from afar (cos i can't dance), the gymnasium which is fun but also fearful cos of gymnastics lessons,the spice garden, the computer labs, the spiral staircase,the square courtyard where we assemble every morning, the canteen with the Meepok uncle, the ecopond with huge & beautiful kois, the classrooms which are ever so cosy with a nice "balcony" (n I always close the doors after lesson), the clean n nice toilets, the home economics kitchen, the backyard where we had hydroponics, the 4th level where we had to "travel" to for Higher Chinese & Geography lessons... so many so many memories - so familiar, yet so hazy ..

I'm glad that I made the right choice last time. I have learnt so much & had so many beautiful memories in my 4 years..

Glad that I live am I, that the sky is blue.
Glad for the country lanes, and the fall of dew.
After the sun the rain, after the rain the sun.
This is the way of life, till the work be done.
All that we need to do be we low or high,
Is to see that we grow nearer the sky.

力宏- 我的梦中情人

Huh! Finally.. the crazy weekend is over.. week of terrible tests & lousy essay writing.. now can at least relax a bit. So finally can post my thoughts on Lee Hom's fabulous concert!!

Lee Hom's so 帅, so extremely talented, & so cute on stage, n he has such a great & deep & clean voice!! His singing would have been perfect if not for some very minor glitches, like in Kiss Goodbye, he didn't start on beat! My sis n i were so shocked.. probably he was too nervous.. cos he dedicated the song to Kit Chan, whom he said he usd to have a crush on! So cute! Kit's really good la, so proud of her! Imagine - Lee Hom having a crush! I love his singing! Full of emotions & yet strong. Love his falsettos & mid-range tones..

He started off with 盖世英雄 wearing a golden shimmering 马褂 & straightaway he played on the electric guitar! & 放开你的心 - he played the electronic keyboard - the interlude part! 帅！Then continued with his 经典- 爱你等于爱自己， 公转自转 & 爱的就是你! Nice! So charming! when he sang 爱的就是你. After a break, he sang a medley of songs & danced! Hot man...I thought his dancing was good! At least better than Jay hahaha..To think Straits Times only gave him a "passable".. humph!

Think I still prefer him singing ballads - Kiss Goodbye, Forever Love, 流泪手心 etc..too bad he didn't sing 你不在..& loved his older songs also..his rap songs, ok la. at least he raps well! ha..
OOO my sis & I loved the unplugged session too! 3 guitarists sitting down, & Lee Hom on guitar too. He got everyone to sing 不要害怕 together, & it was such a great feeling! 大城小爱 was damn nice too! acoustic version - 赞！The unplugged version of Follow Me & W-H-Y was great too! Very different!

Soon after displaying his talents on the guitar, he played on the black grand piano! Wa lao! Damn charming lor.. 一首简单的歌 - so heartwarming，流泪手心 -so touching，& a Lovex3 - so jazzy!

& even the piano's not enough .. straight away he got someone carrying a drum to him, & they walked to the centre of the stage while he plays, & slowly the drums set gets assembled, so he's on the drums the next moment! How cool can he be?!

I think I love him on the violin the best. When he played a solo piece, a movie theme "Cinema Paradiso", I had tears welling up - it was a truly touching & emtional song. He put in so much emotions he closed his eyes throughout, & his facial expressions truly revealed his passion n love for music. Of course, with the violin, how can he forget Julia?? Love this upbeat song so much..

Finally, in the "Chincked-Out" section, he sang all the Lee Hom 中国风 songs. Loved the 转音 in 花田错。As he sang 在那遥远的地方, he went to a platform, to 拉二胡。So haunting & beautiful..It seems as though he's been playing it all his life, but he only picked it up recently!

Encore was of course the climax! He got everyone high & standing up with 不可能错过你 & tried to create an anti-climax by asking everyone to sing the chorus softly initially, so as to create 层次感, & he & the dancers layed on the floor for a while, before gradually asking everyone to increase their volume, & everyone just went high!

He ended by introducing the live musicians (a handful of them Singaporeans) including Goh Kheng Long, who appears in almost every concert! He's damn cool too!

His last song was唯一 ,Of course it was a 大合唱 & everyone just waved the neonlights & the cute red clappers given out, beautiful!

When it finally ended, many people were reluctant to leave & still stood around, hoping that he would appear for a 2nd encore. But sadly, it just ended there. I was so tired but yet euphoric.. had no voice after that, n my hand ached like shit haha

I'm glad for the existence of such a wonderful musician. His passion for music, his talents, his diligence & determination in always wanting to bring better music to everyone, his humility, his great voice, his fantastic music, his sincerity in bringing CHinese music to greater heights, & of course his -帅ness!

Wow how I wish I had so much to write for my term essay. Damn.. It was so #@* to get that #@* essay out, but yet my hands just typed so fast while posting this. Sigh..& if u've read up till here, thanks! Sorry for all those gushings - he's really a talented musician!

Wow.. I actually flipped through the newspapers today & was "in awe" when I saw the article about the IR designs. I can't imagine such resorts to be in Singapore lei... so "extravagant", huge & just "wow"...

But the Genting one.. swimming with whale sharks? in Singapore? Whale sharks in SIngapore? I really can't imagine! The Gentle Giant of the Sea shouldn't be kept in a man-made lagoon..They are meant to be mysterious, & out in the deep deep oceans..

Work vs Play

助けてください！救命啊！Pharmaco is driving me nuts, I don't know how to write my essay, I feel like sleeping....My friends & I marveled at how CNS Pharmaco can kill millions of our brain cells and cause so much confusion. Clozapine? Bupivacaine? Venlafaxine? What is what?? Oh my gosh...And my essay.. "Importance but declining status of Chinese silk". How to start?? How I wish my brain can process materials as smooth as silk haha..then rattle out PK & PD like how the silkworm 吐丝 ahhahaha..

Aiyoh so much work to do I still went out yesterday for lunch @ Yuki & Yaki! Or is it Yaki & Yuki？ I've always wanted to try it when it first opened at Cineleisure, but until the branch at Cineleisure closed down I also didn't try it before haha..Cos it's so ex. Anyway, it's a DIY restaurant where you can BBQ your food and make ice-cream! Not at the same time of course! I told my mum can "fry" ice-cream & she was puzzled hhahaaha.. But the action is literally frying lei.. as shown below..very fun haha.. I was so high when it was time to make our ice-cream I kept laughing, my sisters thought I "sot sot dei".

So firstly you pour the molten ice-cream in & spread it out like that.

Tada!! ANd the ice-cream is formed! Yay! Can start eating!

It's really fun! But hard work especially when it gets colder & colder & the icecream becomes hard. Can train arm muscles haha..

Wow I was surprised when I saw The Straits Time Life! feature Hajime Chitose 元ちとせ in their weekly music reviews today.

This Okinawan singer caught my attention about 3 years ago when I saw her MV being played on MTV Channel 51. I thought her voice was really unique, & her singing style was so different & special. Then as I surfed the net, I found out that she was no irdinary J-Pop singer, as her singing style was greatly influenced by the shima uta (island song)style characteristic of the Rukyu Islands in Japan. So I actually went on to buy her album (Nomad Soul) although I didn't understand anything! But her voice is warm, and yet haunting, but penetrating also. It takes some time to get used to the singing style! But she's cool! I also read that she always performs bare-footed on stage! haha..

Recently bought Van Fan 范逸臣's newest CD from HMV at a discounted price heeheehee.. I like the album. Rock songs are quite suitable for his voice. Worth a listen! Sigh.. Anyway, the haze's so bad these days. So hazy, so smelly. Must take care! Don't fall sick like me... or maybe in my case, it was cos I got pricked by a syringe in the MicroB lab?? No la 心理作用. I already had a sore throat coming before I went for Dosage Form Design lab haha..

What a fun song haha..

My mum told me she too didn't know how I spent my break. Ok la, 1+ hour playing with my pet bird, 3-4 hours playing with my dogs, 1-2 hours walking around the house or stoning, 2-3 hrs trying to do work, 7-8 hours listening to music, 3-4 hours surfing the net. Of course I multi-task here & there. Yap that's how I spend my break I think.. sigh..

Mid Sem break...

Aiyoh! It's already Thursday! Why so fast... Didn't do much this hols also.. Watched The Banquet and didn't quite like it. Although the costumes and settings were nice, like the bamboos and the palace. Can't appreciate this type of movies..

Anyway, went lunching with my lao3 peng2 you3 at this Wiener Kaffeehaus near Cantonment Road. Quite a nice place, with decent food, and great coffee heehee..

Lee Hom's coming on Sunday for an autograph session @ Junction 8! But don't think I should waste time going to queue up.. sigh... haven't done so many things yet.. but just can't get down to sitting at my desk. Once I try to hit the books, I feel super sleepy.. 眠い！勉強をしたくないです！学校が行きたくないです！

Ohh and I think the duet sung by Van Fan ( 范逸臣）& Tong En (同恩）is beautiful! 新鲜的组合，声音还蛮配的！ Very romantic, although a little mushy, the lyrics. But it's composed by 黄舒俊！I think it will go down well with couples who are very in love! haha..
