"fan-girl" mode due to Depp Attack

It's unfortunate for me that such an interesting actor caught my attention only now in my 21 years of life. haha..It's amazing how he can accept roles that are so diversified, & so-not-mainstream. From Edward Scissorhands to Willy Wonka. An extraordinary artiste who doesn't give a damn about fame and glamour. But now he has entered the spotlight, simply because he wanted to make a film that he thinks his children will enjoy, & that a 5-year-old can sit beside a 20-year-old, a 50-year-old & a 70-year-old to react to the show. Cool.

Anyway, watch POTC for Johnny Depp. This qoute sums up my sentiments exactly.

"Running 2 1/2 hours, it ought to sink from the weight of the cargo. But it's buoyed by another high-wire performance from Depp.." - Joe Williams, St Louis Post Dispatch

Also, wow! Rolling Stones featured JD! The interview they did with JD was interesting. I was laughing out loud while reading it.

Found this video on youtube again. Wanted to share with you, because firstly, love the song. Secondly, you should know. It's Captain Jack. haha..

Next, this video's cute too. JD's laughter...woohoo...

Two Japanese kids interview Johnny Depp. by kannotomoya

Sorry guys! This post's all about JD, my newfound favourite actor.

Interesting stuff I found. I was browsing through CDs the other day at HMV, and actually saw that a band named "Gay for Johnny Depp" actually existed! Was really surprised u know... And according their website, they produce "Erotically Charged Dance Songs for the Desperate". Whatever that means..

And amazingly, there's actually a song named "Johnny Depp" about Johnny Depp! ahha....really funny...It's sung by Amy Anne. You can preview the song on her site.

Recently, there's also a song titled "I wanna Be Your Johnny Depp" recorded by A UK band, Testosterone.

Wow, JD, you're everywhere! interesting...

Ok I better stop all these and turn off my "fan-girl" mode. =)

The Corrs

Again, I'm so free, browsing youtube. And found this awesome video. Rather precious. 10 years ago! One of my favourite songs by The Corrs. Runaway. The Corrs - amazing group. All 4 of them are siblings, and all 4 can play an instrument or another! So cool... What a musically inclined and talented family! It runs in the blood..

Andrea Corr: lead vocals, tinwhistle
Sharon Corr: violin, vocals
Caroline Corr: bodhran, vocals
Jim Corr: guitar, keyboards

Love Andrea's voice, so clear and bright, and so attractive. All 3 sisters are very beautiful people , and I love their sexy lips hhaa...

Preferred their earlier albums, a little more towards traditional Irish. That's why I love their most recently released album, titled Home. As the title suggests, this album consists of all the traditional Irish songs that made an impact on them. Beautiful songs, beautiful arrangement, beautiful vocals.

Track 4, Black is the Colour, surprised me the most, cos Andrea sang it really really low! Wow her voice's so bass, very nice!

Liked track 5, Heart Like a Wheel, a lot. A sad but beautiful song. 凄美。

Track 6, Buachaill On Eirne is 1 of my favourites too, although I don't understand the lyrics. Sounds inspiring and grand to me though.

Track 8, Moorlough Shore, loved the 转音 s.

Tracks 10, Dimming of the Day & 11,Brid Og Ni Mhaille, simple, and yet beautiful (notice my limited vocab). Touching too...

Of hills, blog skins, oxymorons and change

So far, 2 people have asked about my URL. Why rolling green hills? It's simply because I like rolling green hills. One of the goals in my life is to visit rolling green hills, especially in Ireland. I know rolling green hills are everywhere (except Singapore), but narrow-minded me seems to prefer associating rolling green hills with Ireland. I don't know if the above picture is from Ireland though.

And when I set up my blog, I had "envisioned" the template to be 1 with a rolling green hills picture, but I can't find any such templates, and the worst thing is I don't know a single thing about creating such skins! Sigh.. Any kind souls out there wanna help me?? haha..

Have been busy packing my room. So much rubbish. But mostly with sentimental value. And my friend thinks I'm contradicting myself, cos I stuff all these "sentimental rubbish" into the cupboard. Hiyoh...

Heard FIR's new song twice today. Nice song, usual FIR. But the beginning reminds me of SHE's 河滨公园 though. And saw in the papers that Faye, FIR's lead vocalist, actually danced to their new song, "Get High". Surprised, because I thought FIR is more of a "cool-rock-attitude" group, but because hip-hop is so "the thing" now in the Mando-Pop scene, they also follow suit.

I shall go and try how to make blog skins... sigh..

Juanes - mi sangre

Can't believe I shopped so much yesterday... But I still feel like going down to town to see if I can get any more good bargains later this afternoon..

Anyway, yesterday I just bought a CD and I thought it was great. And hold your breath, I actually bought an album of a Latin singer-songwriter! It's Juanes! Don't know if you guys heard of him, but I thought it was nice to listen to.

I first saw his MV on MTV channel, and it was a great song. The MV featured his live performance of the romantic song, Para tu amor (finally know the title), and the camera just scanned across millions & millions of heads of people, dancing, singing & waving their hands, totally immersed in the music and enjoying themselves tremendously. All though I can't understand a single word, it just sounded very nice. So yesterday when I was at HMV, I previewed his album and hey, I enjoyed almost every track! So I bought it ahha..

Latin music's great! It really makes you want to move to the beat. The guitars, the rhythm, the drum beats, the voice. No wonder Shakira, Ricky Martin etc have such nice butts. Cos Latin music really makes you feel like shaking your butt! ahha..

How can someone inject so much life & charisma into a dam pirate?

He's not a villain, neither is he a hero, plus he's so unkempt & unhygienic..

old songs are nice

Was playing random songs on my mp3 player & came across this song. Rather "long-ago" song by local singer/songwriter Gu Hao. Loved the end of the chorus the most. Always wonder how the guy managed to sing such beautiful falsettos. (or is it the editing of the recording engineer haha.. =( )

Anyway, Gu Hao disappeared for sometime, but I guess cos he's working behind the scenes now. A recent song of Jolin Tsai, Jia Zhuang, was actually composed by him. Nice song.

Sometimes, when I chance upon songs of the 90s' or even really oldies (Teresa Teng era), I begin to think that singers of the past really have more "shi2 li4" than the singers now. Beatiful voices, beautiful melodies, beautiful lyrics. I think that's why they're called "金曲" "golden melodies" haha..

Ain't I supposed to be doing something constructive? But I'm still online! And I just gotta share these videos that I browsed on youtube. Man youtube is a great site to visit when you are tooooo free like me. Lots of interesting videos! Whenever forums I visit mention youtube, I was thinking is it some free video website that Channel U has? (SIngaporeans should know what Im talking abt ha..) Then I realised, it's a website for everyone all over the world to share videos. Wow.. Internet...

BeatBoxing Parrot by hrvplaya

laughed so much when I saw this.

blog??

Hmmm.. I really wonder if anyone reads my blog.. And I really wonder why I'm so 'ons' about blogging now! I have always been wondering why do people want to share with other people their lives in blogs, especially private matters, or daily routine events? I have always been wondering why people like to blog?

I think now I can understand. Because it provides you an opportunity to voice out. Especially issues that you don't say in real life, or have no time to ramble about, or no one to Talk to. Here, you can just say whatever you want, hoping someone really does stumble onto your ramblings, and maybe share the same sentiments? I think that's what I feel.

I also think that people are very free to really spend time doing up their blogs, & posting entries almost everyday. At least that's what I am now, very free, so free that I'm actually blogging! 2 posts in 2 days! wow..

I feel so rubbish now. I'm really too free to be posting such things! Shall go do something constructive now hhaa..

Coldplay- my 天团!

I never thought that I would be having my own blog! Shucks man.. to think that I was quite cynical about blogs! Now I'm having my own! All becos I wanna share my Coldplay experiences with everyone!

Attended Coldplay's Twisted Logic Tour 2006 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium last night. It wasn't my first time attending a concert, but was the first English concert I attended, since the previous concerts were by Chinese artistes. The concerts I attended in the past were great because of fantastic artistes/musicians such as A-mei Zhang Hui Mei, Wang Lee Hom, Jay Chou and JJ Lin Junjie etc etc, but right now I think this was the best of all, albeit it was tooooo short..

It was my first rock concert ever, and it's so different from the previous concerts I attended. The stage was seriously just a platform with the drums set, keyboard, piano, and some guitars. No fanciful backdrops, just a rectangular platform. It started late, about 8.45pm. I entered the stadium at about 8, and there were still very little people. As time passed, the stadium filled up with people, and when the concert started, it was full house. Yes, the tickets were sold out, I think within a few days.

Also, there were no costume changes, unlike Chinese artistes who love to appear in different extravagant, & sometimes bizzare costumes. The 4 lads were in black throughout the whole show. However they did not forget the logo "Make Trade Fair" drawn on the back of the hands.

There was also minimal conversation made by the bandmates, and not a lot of interaction - was the Singapore audience not high enough? Ok Chris Martin did talk but I didn't understand him ahha..Save for one climax - Chris ran down from the stage, past the audiences seated at the sides, to the audience seated behind! He even stood amongst them and sang, allowing the lucky girls to hug him! That was rather unbelievable sight to me, because as far as I know, concerts in Singapore are so restricted as the security don't allow artistes to come off the stage. But I must say the situation is improving in Singapore. Because the whole stadium stoood up during the 3rd song, Yellow! I can't imagine this happening like 5 years ago - the security people would command people to sit down! Probably cos everyone's too high, there's nothing they can do haha..

Comparisions aside, I still think it was amazing, and super duper high and fantabulous, even after 24 hours. Never felt so high throughout a concert before. The only high moment was during Lee Hom's concert where everyone rushed to the front during encore. The rest of the concerts, lots of clapping & screaming & singing along. That was about it. For this, I actually stood up & moved! Rocked to the beat! ahha...& lots & lots of screaming & clapping, clapping to every song! Hands swollen already..

Chris Martin is another amazing performer. Why does this guy have so much energy? He runs, skips, hops, prances around, lies down on the floor and sing, teases his bandmates, and even does "yogalike stances"! I was in awe when he was on the piano stool and did a bridge backwards! His voice - strong, and had beautiful falsettos!
The music - so penetrating, hypnotising, haunting and heart-wrenching at times, especially Fix You, Swallowed in the Sea, The Scientist. Love the camaraderie of the baNd. Lots of mo4 qi4, & could tell that they were very close. Loved the interactions (hu4 dong4) between the members.

Loved the lighting effects as well! They were so important in the concert - created the right atmosphere at the right times. The strobing laser lights, the strong spotlights etc. Very beautiful!

Loved the big yellow balloons that floated about as well during Yellow. Beautiful sight, when they burst and gold confetti poured out.

The crowd was wonderful, although I hoped it could have been better. At times, Chris had to ask if everyone's ok. haha..But loved the moments when everyone cheered & screamed together, & especially singing in unison together, during Yellow, Scientist,Fix You, In My Place etc. So touching! =)

Gosh! My first post is long! Hope it didnt bore u to death! FYI, didn't manage to take any pics or record any videos..The pic above was taken from another site haha..but what happened that night is really as shown in the pic haha...

Lastly, found this on youtube. Nice "clips of the best"~!
