Wow it's a new year again.
First live music of the year 2010 I watched was katncandix2 棉花糖 at the M1 Fringe Festival. It was just like when I first knew about sodagreen. Only heard a few of their songs, and decided to buy tics to their live show. And indeed, no regrets.
It was at Esplanade Recital Studio. I love this venue. It's such a cosy place, and it allows musicians to be face to face with the audience, and with only their instruments at hand. Wonderful venue for live performances. The other time Captain Lu performed there too. Amazing venue.
棉花糖 was great live! Didn't know 小球, the female vocalist, was so "vocal”！She talked so much and was hilarious. Luckily she was present to spice up the show haha...At 1 point when 圣哲, the guitarist broke a guitar string and went backstage to re-string the guitar, she just went on and on to talk about their experiences as a busker. 圣哲 was so different from her . He doesn't talk much, is seems rather serious about things. That's why they are a group - there is the contrast and regular banter between the 2, which was funny too....
SO they sang songs from their debut album, and in between would talk about why they wrote the songs. And then there would be slideshows accompanying the songs with lyrics, prepared by 圣哲's brother. Not to forget the keyboardist 小杰. He looked more like a hip-hop dancer than a keyboardist, but could play the keyboard with so much feeling, and at times so gentle! Amazing...
小球'svoice is warm, and rather strong at times. Nice! Her rendition of 林侑嘉's 心酸 was good! Don't know why I felt rather 感动 when she sang 陪你到世界的终结。I think it's great that they are able to pursue their dreams, and even bring their music from the streets of Taiwan to out of Taiwan.
IN the end, a 40 minute show became a 1h 40min live music and sharing session. INteresting. There was even an autograph session, where everyone just chitchatted with them. Cute.

Cheer Chen
Cheer Chen's concert on 4 April left me with a URTI the following week.
But it was amazing, although I preferred the first one I went to in 2007 I think. preferred the more intimate setting then. This time's concert was a bigger production with many LED screens, a crane and a platform as well as a scooter, and a few encores that seemed "planned". Missed the spontaneous encores back then when she appeared with her crew even when the lights were on and all of us stood on the chairs hahaha...
But her voice is still very moving, especially in songs such as 鱼，下个星期去英国，告诉我，旅行的意义，失败者的飞翔，After 17，太聪明...she's forver so angelic just with the guitar alone. beautiful. 太有气质了！！ was very surprised that she wld sing 会不会 - 1 of my favourites as I thought it was a great song. Loved her rocker side in 太阳，吉他手，Self. this is wat i like abt her - can always hear the strength and "attitude" in her gentle, child-like voice. wA THE gUITAR Hero PK segment was amazing too. Especially with her boyfriend-cum-guitarist-cum-producer. so cool lo. I still think her bf very lucky hahaha...
I felt I didn't enjoy myself as much as I should have was cos I was sitting at the side. For Cheer's concert, I realise that one should have a centre view to see the whole stage, becos the beauty in her concerts lie in the whole stage presentation. Morover she seldom walks over to the sides - don't really utilize stage space as much as other ple like Jay or Coldplay hehe... SO next time must get a centre view!
But it was still a great concert. It was very nice of her to try to be close to the audience. Even saw the fun side of her, sailing thru the crowds, trying to take fotos with them and taking fotos of us, "spouting" words of wisdom - no wonder she's a philosophy major hehe...Being in the same venue as somone like Cheer just makes me feel a bit more "refined" hehehe... how i wish i can have 1/100 of her 气质 & 内涵 hahaha...

Coldplay - woohoo!
The day came, and went~ Coldplay's 3rd concert in Singapore (2nd one which I watched) was fantastically awesome! After 2 years plus, the music, the band and audience were still in tip-top condition (even though they seemed more matured than before haha) . Chris Martin was still as energetic as before, and charismatic and being able to bring out the "wildness" of the audience (just like me hhHA)... HE STILL prances around the stage, still hops and skips around, still falls to the floor spontaneously and sings lying down just like 2 yrs ago, but this time plays and dances with the Japanese paper umbrella under the raining butterfly confetti during Lovers in Japan. One of my favourite songs and favourite moments. Other than the giant yellow balls that were done before, the 
butterfly confetti segment really made me very happy and touched. Other touching moments of course include singing the very big hits such as Yellow, Fix Me, In My Place, and chanting to the ooooohs of Viva la Vida in unison. That's the thing i love about concerts. These musicians really have the charm, power and strength to "conjure" the crowd of 1000s of people to sing in unison to their songs. Very Amazing haha...
Other interesting parts of the concert was when the whole band moved their instruments and mics and mic stands to the back of the side to sing amongst the audience. Why didn't they come to our side?! we were directly opposite them! *sad* haha.. I bet the audience there had a remarkable night haa.. the Grammy award-winners were just infront/behind./beside them......
Yeap this time luckily got friends go with me, then can scream together hehe... will definitely go for their next concert!

我被她电到了！实在是太有气质了！宛如音乐仙女。。。她的一举一动是那么的温柔。。。歌声那么动听，笑容那么甜，吉他弹得又酷！很抱歉，违反了“三不”约定，拍了几张照片。只因为这种时光太珍贵了，需要留作纪念， 哈哈。。。went to Cheer Chen's first autograph session in Singapore. Finally could see her up close and personal. Fell in love with her lo.. so pretty and oozing with so much 气质. She's so sweet too.. smiled to every fan and said thanks..
can't wait for her concert on 4 April!

Wa! After just 1 day (13 hrs $88 and $158 tics are sold out!
Coldplay's popularity and "value" has increased so much just after 2 plus years! the other time i went the tics were like half the current ticket price now....
But great that i've found frens to go with me this time round - no need to cheer alone hehehe.... still remember that was my first blog post haha.....but.. pocket's bleeding... ah... so many concerts.....

place in life?
Got scolding by customer first thing in the morning. Still a little traumatised.
The antipsychotic is driving me nuts.. almost...
sodagreen... sodagreen... soda soda soda green.... how I wish I was still there now... or forever there...
But it made me think about myself. Seeing them being so absorbed and so enjoying what they're doing, and better still being so good at wat they're doing (Ah Gong with the piano/viola, Qingfeng with his mesmerising & superb vocals, Jia Kai with his guitar gimmicks, Ah Fu with his rhythmic strummings, Xinyi with her cool basslines, Xiao Wei with his strong & metronome-like drumbeats) made me wonder.... They have really all found their place in life. Have I and will I ever find my place? Have you found your place in life?
Back to the concert... I felt that I didn't enjoy myself as much as I did during their 1st concert here last year. Maybe cos' we expected more from them, especially when their Taiwan concert was like 5 hours with 7 encores? hmmm.... Still didn't feel as high as I expected.. but nevertheless, it was fun swaying to their songs, and enjoying their banter on stage, & during the encore running to the front & being so close to them! Qingfeng's vocal prowess is still super amazing, & like wat my friends said - his control. His control over his vocals... Excellent. He REALLY is talented. Also, Ah Fu is cute! He just kept smiling throughout the whole concert. Very happy-go-lucky guy. The small string orchestra was a great experience too. Wonderful! Love sodagreen!

五月天- 天团不是盖的！
Last night was totally a crazy night. Forgotten that I still have exams in abt 3 days time. Just totally lost in the world of rock and 五月天！
Although I don't know all of their songs, and can't sing without looking at the screen with lyrics, I still enjoyed myself tremendously, as the crowd was super high - when the concert just started, we were already on our feet! And the band is really tight and had lots of 默契！of course the climax was when they ran across the length of the stadium towards the centre stage - right at the centre of the stadium. This was really a treat for those who were sitting right at the back, since now the members were just standing right in front of them! And it was 玛莎's birthday last night, so the whole stadium sang a birthday song for him! and with the cheeky members, they kept saying zhu, zhu, zhu during the last line (which could mean 猪！) HAHA.. and along the run, they often stopped and sang amongst the audience - face-to-face! lucky people sitting in front!
think some memorable moments were 石头 singing a song written for his kid (his voice is good!), the bandmates without 阿信 singing 孙悟空, 阿信 singing 洋葱, 阿信 singing 最重要的小事 with the acoustic guitar, and the band-mates solo! think 怪兽 is my new favourite 吉他手 - really cool man! And of course the very high songs, like 恋爱-ing which got everyone chanting "L-O-V-E" for real long!
Love this few songs - 一千个世纪,离开地球的表面,最重要的小事,倔强，人生海海，疯狂世界，天使 etc etc etc...
although this was my first Mayday concert, it definitely's not going to be my last! hehehe.... looking forward to their new album & Mayday 2009's concert! ZTime for some (lousy-quality) photos and vids...

Wa! it's been a long time!
Woohooo! although exams n CAs still not over, still feel really really good, as i can finally bid goodbye to FYP! now that it's over, come to think of it, it's really not that bad. It's truly an experience, now I';m glad I got the chance to do FYP, cos all the stuff that I did for FYP, don't think I'll have the chance to "touch" them again in my life, unless, well I research in that area, which I think is impossible as research is not my forte, or unless I join a manufacturing company hehe... well, you never know what will happen right? who knows 10 years down te road i'll be in a herbal company, optimising the milling of herbs! hahahaha....
So, although I was one of the 5 who did not get scheduled to present on Saturday, it was actually a blessing in disguise, aS I had more time to prepare, as well as more time to recover from my potent virus! My potent virus got me really sick for about 1 week plus, everyone's so scared of me, and thinks that they got my potent virus! luckily all the sniffing and coughing's gone! happy hehe..
Nevertheless, while I was in the midst of all the blowing-of-nose and wet-coughing, I actually still attended KT Tunstall's concert in Singapore! All the wrong priorities - didn't attend lecture but attended concert ahha.. but I was sick wat... and paid for concert ticket already.. so go lor! haha... And sure I didn't regret going. She's really a great singer-cum-songwriter-cum-guitarist-cum-entertainer-cum-moodlifter. Think she cured my flu la haha... she's so funny, witty, down-to-earth, and her singing's so fantastic! The music was great, atmosphere superb, audience as cute as she was, and just really fun! Her voice's powerful, but when it comes to the acoustic numbers, her voice's so clear and high registers really resonates. Love the backup singers as well, and the drummer with the , guitarist with the cute mandolin, bassist, trumpet....and finally saw her live having fun with the audio loop! and her guitars were really beautiful too! i think she had 4? 2 electric, 2 acoustic. dam cool! ahah..wonderful night! hope KT comes back again!
So waited for pple to post videos onto youtube and didn't take any, since i was sitting quite far away. no point ma.. fotos didn't turn out well too..

周杰伦演唱会08
哎哟！不错哦！周杰伦真的很忙，在台上也超忙的！不但要换七，八套服装，还得弹钢琴，弹吉他，弹古筝，击鼓，跳舞，扯铃，唱歌。。。。真的是太精彩了！我觉得我不是再看演唱会，而是在看周董表演，耍帅！
他不愧是亚洲小天王，每一个举手投足能得到大家的欢呼掌声。而我呢，光是看到他就已经high到不行，根本都没理会其他人！每次看演唱会都很失态，唉，不懂大姐的朋友有没有被我吓到。
不管了！豁出去了！霍霍霍霍霍霍霍霍！！！这是encore的时候大家都在喊的！哈哈。。。
我不能再写长篇大论了，因为还有很多事没做！值得一提的是他古筝真的是弹得很棒，扯铃时也是太帅了！跳“牛仔舞”（牛仔很忙）和“僵尸舞”（本草纲目）时也是太可爱，太棒了！弹钢琴就不用讲了。是有目共睹的帅。而他在和辣妹g共舞时的尴尬笑容真是太好笑了。。 哈哈。。南拳妈妈改编的不能说的秘密也很搞笑，什么“从安静到千里之外都用同一个和弦”。。。而那位女生拉的二胡也是很好听，太有feel了！
还好他有演唱几首脍炙人口的旧歌，如黑色幽默，安静，开不了口。可惜他没唱很多其他的歌曲，如我不配，青花瓷，回到过去，还有很多我喜欢的旧歌。奇怪的是我最讨厌的阳光宅男和甜甜的都让我很high!
觉得最美中不足的是他好像生病感冒了，所以影响到演唱功力。。。而且也太短了,11pm 就结束，太早了！
尽管如此，我还是觉得这场演唱会超赞的！杰伦真的是很用心，很卖力，而且服装造型都很好看，都很有视觉效果！我也觉得他的嘴巴很甜，不过没说太多话啦。。还逗我们，问我们要他几时再来开演唱会，明天还是明年，哈哈。。

歌神 God of Songs
I finally get to see the "God of Songs" 歌神 perform live. And I am extremely amazed by him.
At the "not-so-flattering" age of 46 for a celebrity, his stamina, energy, showmanship, and most importantly voice were superb!
He has been singing longer than I am born (When he debutted I wasn't even born yet) and it's great that after so many years, he's still bringing moving and fantastic music and performances to everyone.
I especially love his bassy & manly voice and the way he soars effortlessly to high registers and all his soulful, moving and emotional renditions of his classic ballad hits.
From Chinese classics 每天爱你多一些，吻别，情书 to Cantonese classics 只想一生跟你走，李香兰 to more recent works 在你身边，我真的受伤了, his live singing is indescribable with words... they were just too perfect.
And the songs he wrote for his daughter and wife, they were beautiful! He must be a very good husband and father...
Also, I didn't know that he could dance! His dance moves were sleek and energetic, and at his age, I think he's so good！ It's no wonder that he perspired perfusely already at the beginning with a few of his fast numbers (which I wasn't too familiar with). And he was so high, that the newspapers commented that he was 颠 (Canto, means crazy)! He defended himself, saying that only when performing fast rock songs can he scream like nobody's business, and screaming's really a relieve of stress and bad feelings. I didn't know that this heavenly king's really quite humorous too! The way he connects with the audience and interacts with us was a very good feeling.
I was surprised that he even incorporated a half-hour musical into this world tour. Actually I shouldn't be, since the 2 musicals that he starred in, Snow Wolf Lake (雪狼湖) & Perhaps Love (如果。爱) were so successful. But it was a regret for me that the musical featured only 1 Snow-Wolf-Lake song 爱是永恒. It was after watching 雪狼湖 that I truly admired this heavenly king.
And it is after watching this fantastic concert that I believe, the stage belongs to him. Performing is really in his blood, and he is blessed with a "heavenly" voice.
昨晚真的是让我听出了耳油！听学友哥唱歌真的是人生的一大享受。绕梁三天。。荡气回肠。。 哈哈。。（滥用成语）
就如他所说的，他真的是用了他的心去唱歌，所以才能那么感动人心。
虽然我没能跟歌神在音乐的路上一起成长(因为他大我两倍!)，虽然歌神在最后一首歌的最后一句出了点状况，但歌神在我心目中还是完美的！

I especially love his bassy & manly voice and the way he soars effortlessly to high registers and all his soulful, moving and emotional renditions of his classic ballad hits.
From Chinese classics 每天爱你多一些，吻别，情书 to Cantonese classics 只想一生跟你走，李香兰 to more recent works 在你身边，我真的受伤了, his live singing is indescribable with words... they were just too perfect.
And the songs he wrote for his daughter and wife, they were beautiful! He must be a very good husband and father...
Also, I didn't know that he could dance! His dance moves were sleek and energetic, and at his age, I think he's so good！ It's no wonder that he perspired perfusely already at the beginning with a few of his fast numbers (which I wasn't too familiar with). And he was so high, that the newspapers commented that he was 颠 (Canto, means crazy)! He defended himself, saying that only when performing fast rock songs can he scream like nobody's business, and screaming's really a relieve of stress and bad feelings. I didn't know that this heavenly king's really quite humorous too! The way he connects with the audience and interacts with us was a very good feeling.
I was surprised that he even incorporated a half-hour musical into this world tour. Actually I shouldn't be, since the 2 musicals that he starred in, Snow Wolf Lake (雪狼湖) & Perhaps Love (如果。爱) were so successful. But it was a regret for me that the musical featured only 1 Snow-Wolf-Lake song 爱是永恒. It was after watching 雪狼湖 that I truly admired this heavenly king.
And it is after watching this fantastic concert that I believe, the stage belongs to him. Performing is really in his blood, and he is blessed with a "heavenly" voice.
昨晚真的是让我听出了耳油！听学友哥唱歌真的是人生的一大享受。绕梁三天。。荡气回肠。。 哈哈。。（滥用成语）
就如他所说的，他真的是用了他的心去唱歌，所以才能那么感动人心。
虽然我没能跟歌神在音乐的路上一起成长(因为他大我两倍!)，虽然歌神在最后一首歌的最后一句出了点状况，但歌神在我心目中还是完美的！

力宏- 我的梦中情人
Huh! Finally.. the crazy weekend is over.. week of terrible tests & lousy essay writing.. now can at least relax a bit. So finally can post my thoughts on Lee Hom's fabulous concert!!Lee Hom's so 帅, so extremely talented, & so cute on stage, n he has such a great & deep & clean voice!! His singing would have been perfect if not for some very minor glitches, like in Kiss Goodbye, he didn't start on beat! My sis n i were so shocked.. probably he was too nervous.. cos he dedicated the song to Kit Chan, whom he said he usd to have a crush on! So cute! Kit's really good la, so proud of her! Imagine - Lee Hom having a crush! I love his singing! Full of emotions & yet strong. Love his falsettos & mid-range tones..
He started off with 盖世英雄 wearing a golden shimmering 马褂 & straightaway he played on the electric guitar! & 放开你的心 - he played the electronic keyboard - the interlude part! 帅！Then continued with his 经典- 爱你等于爱自己， 公转自转 & 爱的就是你! Nice! So charming! when he sang 爱的就是你. After a break, he sang a medley of songs & danced! Hot man...I thought his dancing was good! At least better than Jay hahaha..To think Straits Times only gave him a "passable".. humph!Think I still prefer him singing ballads - Kiss Goodbye, Forever Love, 流泪手心 etc..too bad he didn't sing 你不在..& loved his older songs also..his rap songs, ok la. at least he raps well! ha..
OOO my sis & I loved the unplugged session too! 3 guitarists sitting down, & Lee Hom on guitar too. He got everyone to sing 不要害怕 together, & it was such a great feeling! 大城小爱 was damn nice too! acoustic version - 赞！The unplugged version of Follow Me & W-H-Y was great too! Very different!
Soon after displaying his talents on the guitar, he played on the black grand piano! Wa lao! Damn charming lor.. 一首简单的歌 - so heartwarming，流泪手心 -so touching，& a Lovex3 - so jazzy!
& even the piano's not enough .. straight away he got someone carrying a drum to him, & they walked to the centre of the stage while he plays, & slowly the drums set gets assembled, so he's on the drums the next moment! How cool can he be?!
I think I love him on the violin the best. When he played a solo piece, a movie theme "Cinema Paradiso", I had tears welling up - it was a truly touching & emtional song. He put in so much emotions he closed his eyes throughout, & his facial expressions truly revealed his passion n love for music. Of course, with the violin, how can he forget Juli
a?? Love this upbeat song so much..
Finally, in the "Chincked-Out" section, he sang all the Lee Hom 中国风 songs. Loved the 转音 in 花田错。As he sang 在那遥远的地方, he went to a platform, to 拉二胡。So haunting & beautiful..It seems as though he's been playing it all his life, but he only picked it up recently!

f course the climax! He got everyone high & standing up with 不可能错过你 & tried to create an anti-climax by asking everyone to sing the chorus softly initially, so as to create 层次感, & he & the dancers layed on the floor for a while, before gradually asking everyone to increase their volume, & everyone just went high!He ended by introducing the live musicians (a handful of them Singaporeans) including Goh Kheng Long, who appears in almost every concert! He's damn cool too!
His last song was唯一 ,Of course it was a 大合唱 & everyone just waved the neonlights & the cute red clappers given out, beautiful!
When it finally ended, many people were reluctant to leave & still stood around, hoping that he would appear for a 2nd encore. But sadly, it just ended there. I was so tired but yet euphoric.. had no voice after that, n my hand ached like shit haha
I'm glad for the existence of such a wonderful musician. His passion for music, his talents, his diligence & determination in always wanting to bring better music to everyone, his humility, his great voice, his fantastic music, his sincerity in bringing CHinese music to greater heights, & of course his -帅ness!
Wow how I wish I had so much to write for my term essay. Damn.. It was so #@* to get that #@* essay out, but yet my hands just typed so fast while posting this. Sigh..& if u've read up till here, thanks! Sorry for all those gushings - he's really a talented musician!

Van Fan 范逸臣
Recently bought Van Fan 范逸臣's newest CD from HMV at a discounted price heeheehee.. I like the album. Rock songs are quite suitable for his voice. Worth a listen! Sigh.. I don't know how to post audio clips, so I just post video clips lo.. hopefully the loading time is ok! (if it buffers too much, just click pause, wait for it to load almost half then click play..)

Anyway, the haze's so bad these days. So hazy, so smelly. Must take care! Don't fall sick like me... or maybe in my case, it was cos I got pricked by a syringe in the MicroB lab?? No la 心理作用. I already had a sore throat coming before I went for Dosage Form Design lab haha..

My mum told me she too didn't know how I spent my break. Ok la, 1+ hour playing with my pet bird, 3-4 hours playing with my dogs, 1-2 hours walking around the house or stoning, 2-3 hrs trying to do work, 7-8 hours listening to music, 3-4 hours surfing the net. Of course I multi-task here & there. Yap that's how I spend my break I think.. sigh..

Wasting time again..
As I took out F.I.R's album to listen again, I realised that it was not as bad as I thought previously. Loved all the music arrangements, especially 你很爱他. The guitar's really nice. Reminds me a little of Jay's 黑色毛衣 haha..
And I saw F.I.R's concert on tv on Friday. As Faye as singing北极圈 halfway, tears streamed down her beautiful face... 好心痛哦！To think that I thought how come she suddenly sang off-pitch hoo... I think that's what they say singing with all your heart, and singing with 感情 ba.. But all their songs are killer songs! Really admire Faye for being able to sing at so many live concerts and still maintain & sustain her powderful voice.
And last night I saw 樱桃帮 performing in an Anti-Drug Concert in
Taipei. A really interesting girl rock band that is up and coming. I mean, the Chinese scene never had a girl rock band before, so they add more variety to the currently hip-hop-&-rapping-laden music scene. I thought it was quite cool. Why? Cos they play their own music, (n I think girls playing drums or electric guitars are supa supa cool!) write some of their own songs, and are pretty girls with pretty voices. Wow if you hear them speak, you won't imagine them rocking on stage. Jia you lo! haha..

Now you know why I still have so much work piling up - lab reports, tutorials, studying for test etc etc. Cos I'm so busy online & on my TV! sigh..Why does Taiwan have so many outdoor concerts? Or why is it that only SIngapore has so few pop concerts... so sad..talking about concert, Juz-B will be performing outside Esplanade next weekend! So exciting!
