Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

Yay! 棉花糖 has a new album coming up!!! They are 1 of the few groups that make me still enjoy Mando pop. Love the girl 小球's voice. Went for their mini concert at Esplanade the other time and enjoyed it a lot. Felt really touched when I cld hear them sing live. Don't know why. From street singers in Taiwan to holding mini concert in Singapore... They are another group of people who dare to and are trying so very hard to fulfil their dreams.

After my Japan trip, my 哈日 craze is back again...

Recently watched Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, Samurai High School and Gokusen 3. All are great in their own ways!!!

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge ヤマトナデシコ七変化 is abt this grp of 4 "ikemen" who are supposed to turn this eccentric girl into a lady so that they do not need to pay their house rents. This "hen" Nakahara Sunako walks around in a black cloak, enjoys horror and hates bright things i.e. very good looking people. SO as they interact more with one another, they find out abt one another's "complex" i.e. problems and also find out more abt "BuSunako"'s personality. Not forgetting the 暧昧 between the lead actor Kyohei (Kamenashi Kazuya) and Sunako (Oomasa Aya).

The show at times may seem exaggerated since it is adapted from anime. But I like to see Sunako when she is so immersed in her "horror" self. Really eccentric hhaa...The little boy as Takeru is really cute too! Can fight with Xiao Xiao Bin from Taiwan haha...

Next up was Samurai High School. I didn't know what I was in for before watching it. After the first episode, I cldn't stop as it was super hilarious, and the soundtrack was cool too.

It's abt this doesnt-take-things-seriously high school kid who has a courageous samurai as his ancestor. (They share the same name). Obvously the 2 characters are 180 degrees opposite - one is weak,meek, playful, cheeky while the other is strong, brave, serious and man. So when the weak self encounters difficult situations, his DNA changes and becomes the strong alter-ego samurai and saves the day!

I was surprised that Miura Haruma did quite a good job in portraying the 2 different characters. The samurai speech was funny, especially with the girl! SO direct hahahaa.... His father was funny too. He is more of a friend than a father. Even joins in the samurai role-playing. Interesting show.

I quite like the soundtrack. Has the samurai-in-modern-era feel. Bamboo flute with electric guitar....haha..

Last for now was Gokusen 3 for me. Slow la... cos it was aired in 2008. Always didn't get down to watching it. Finally finished. How I wish I can have a teacher like Yankumi. SO passionate abt her job. And so strong too! Physically haha...The theme of friendship is really strong in the show. I especially like the scenes when Yankumi sits down with her family (not related by blood) and have a heart-to-heart chat. She will always find the strength to fight on after their encouragement. So heartwarming!

So Miura Haruma acted in 2 out of 3 dramas which I watched. It's not coincidental. Purposely chose these 2 dramas cos of him. Embarassing to switch to fan-girl mode cos he's so much younger than me. But I believe he has the potential to make it big. I find that he has grown and acting has also improved.

Also I didn't know Miura Haruma can sing so well.... He actually acted in a musical. Nice song by Exile wor....

I especially like 说谎 and 感同身受. I think he's a very versatile singer. Can sing many genres. Voice is unique too. Can be mysterious at times, 'lazy' at times, very emotional/touching at times, very 'rocker'/strong at times. 难得的好歌手.

Wow it's a new year again.

First live music of the year 2010 I watched was katncandix2 棉花糖 at the M1 Fringe Festival. It was just like when I first knew about sodagreen. Only heard a few of their songs, and decided to buy tics to their live show. And indeed, no regrets.

It was at Esplanade Recital Studio. I love this venue. It's such a cosy place, and it allows musicians to be face to face with the audience, and with only their instruments at hand. Wonderful venue for live performances. The other time Captain Lu performed there too. Amazing venue.

棉花糖 was great live! Didn't know 小球, the female vocalist, was so "vocal”！She talked so much and was hilarious. Luckily she was present to spice up the show haha...At 1 point when 圣哲, the guitarist broke a guitar string and went backstage to re-string the guitar, she just went on and on to talk about their experiences as a busker. 圣哲 was so different from her . He doesn't talk much, is seems rather serious about things. That's why they are a group - there is the contrast and regular banter between the 2, which was funny too....

SO they sang songs from their debut album, and in between would talk about why they wrote the songs. And then there would be slideshows accompanying the songs with lyrics, prepared by 圣哲's brother. Not to forget the keyboardist 小杰. He looked more like a hip-hop dancer than a keyboardist, but could play the keyboard with so much feeling, and at times so gentle! Amazing...

小球'svoice is warm, and rather strong at times. Nice! Her rendition of 林侑嘉's 心酸 was good! Don't know why I felt rather 感动 when she sang 陪你到世界的终结。I think it's great that they are able to pursue their dreams, and even bring their music from the streets of Taiwan to out of Taiwan.

IN the end, a 40 minute show became a 1h 40min live music and sharing session. INteresting. There was even an autograph session, where everyone just chitchatted with them. Cute.

F1 2009 Singapore

This weekend had been really exciting. F1 and related concerts, all thanks to my sister who managed to get the tickets!

F1 Rocks Concert was held in conjunction with the F1 Grand Prix SIngapore 2009 at Fort Canning Park. Obviously, I went for the 1st night with the Mando-pop big shots Jacky Cheung, A-mei, sodagreen and Da Mouth. Their performances were fantastic, but sadly, the technical glitches galore marred the otherwise spectacular event.

That was my first outdoor concert and the ambience at FOrt Canning Park was great. I like it that it was a slope, so that people behind won't be blocked. It was hot and humid, with ocassional breeze, but it was torturing for the feet.

About the technical faults. They were all clearly written in the newspapers. I thought that reflected rather badly on Singapore, or the organising committee. These things should not have happened at such a world-class event.

When Da Mouth sang, the singer's voice couldn't really be heard. I don't know if it's cos of the singer. They finally reported that it was due to the mic, and not cos of Aisha's poor singing. When sodagreen came on, the mics were working fine. As usual, Qingfeng's voice was clear and loud and perfect. But when they were singing Kuangre halfway, just before the chorus, there was total silence on stage. The mics, guitar weren;t working at all. I thought it was on purpose, but a few minutes passed and Qingfeng and band looked amused, bewildered, and they were called off stage. Cldn't believe such a thing happened. The emcees only came onstage after a few minutes of the stage being left empty. Then finally read on Cruz Teng's blog that they were forbidden to go on stage. What! Lousy. They finally resumed after abt 10min with sodagreen performing Kuangre again.

Next was Ah-Mei. Poor Ah-mei's first song, cld not hear her voice at all, only her back-up singers. But 2nd song onwards was ok. Powerful vocals and great stage presence. She admitted that she had to cut down on a few songs due to time constraints and only sang 1 English song, Keane's Somewhere ONly We KNow. It was a strong rendition. Then she left the stage rather abruptly. Probably being chased down due to lack of time.

Then this was the worst. The transition to Jacky Cheung's performance. We waited a good old 40min before the Ge SHen came on stage. He even apologised on behalf of the organisers! That was terrible! The organisers didn't come up to explain and in the end had to let him apologise. No wonder they were angry. But my friend was saying the singers are really really professional. Cos when they came on stage, there were absolutely no signs of anger or frustration. They put in their best effort to perform and had to endure the heat and lousy sound system.

Overall, it could have been more well-planned. More sound checks, and better transition between acts. They had a large crew on stage but the transition was still so slow. But it's great that I cld watch 3 of my favourites in 1 night.

Next was the F1 race itself. Went for the qualifying rounds on Saturday, cos of Travis! My first time watching Travis live. The F1 event was rather exciting as you can hear the cars zooming past and the race track was very brightly lit. It was however very loud (can't survive without the ear plugs) and the smell of burnt rubber was strong. The night landscape was quite pretty too. The merchandise was too costly. Not fan of F1, so didn't buy anything. The cars were nice, especially the red Ferrari, but other than that I don't know who's who haha...The atmosphere was good and all in all it was a good experience.

Our main purpose was actually to watch Travis live @ Padang which started at 11pm. So we wandered around and then went to Padang at 10pm to 'chope' space. There were not a lot of pple and I was so happy that we were so near to the stage! So we waited for the show to start and ironically watched the race on the big screen haha.. Then when I came back from the toilet, Fran Healy, the vocalist came out and took photos with fans! Went to the toilet at the wrong time ha..

They finally came on stage after the qualifying race ended, performing Writing to Reach You first. It was good feeling watching them perform live so up close and personal. Fran's voice is good, and the band's very tight. Fran even used a 12-string guitar. And the banjo was used too, by the lead guitarist. Szesy said the bassist, Dougie, has a cheeky grin. haha...He was quite funny, and he swayed along when playing Why Does It Always Rain On Me ( last song). The busking version of Flowers in the Window was great. Halfway through the song Fran lifted up his songs and the Dougie strummed while Andy held the chords. Quite cool haha...Btw I didn't know they also had a keyboardist ha..

Great concert, but i kept perspiring profusely, it was terrible! The band too.. cld see sweat dripping when they jumped hha...But Fran's so nice, he kept asking the security guards in front to pass the bottled water to us, the front row pple! So sweet............. Oh.. he actually fell a little.. tripped over the monitor speaker.. poorthing..

Fran even jumped down the stage and mingled with the crowd, having one guy hoisting him up on his shoulders. the poor guy haha...

I hope they come again for their own solo concert.

Be socially responsible

Yesterday as I walked out of my workplace entrance, I felt a gush of emotions. Especially with staff donning disposable gowns, face masks and gloves and the temperature screening equipment all set up. For the first time I felt that it was getting quite serious. Plus it doesn't help with all the news of the swine flu bombarding us.

Seriously friends, do not be complacent...a flu pandemic is no laughing matter. My sister laughs at me for being paranoid. But it's better to be safe than sorry. Avoid travelling if possible, as well as crowded places. Practise proper hand hygiene. Be socially responsible.

On a lighter note, I watched this MV some days back and thought it was quite cool and beautifully done. Plus Faith Yang's voice was rather "magical" in this song.

Cheer Chen's concert on 4 April left me with a URTI the following week.

But it was amazing, although I preferred the first one I went to in 2007 I think. preferred the more intimate setting then. This time's concert was a bigger production with many LED screens, a crane and a platform as well as a scooter, and a few encores that seemed "planned". Missed the spontaneous encores back then when she appeared with her crew even when the lights were on and all of us stood on the chairs hahaha...

But her voice is still very moving, especially in songs such as 鱼，下个星期去英国，告诉我，旅行的意义，失败者的飞翔，After 17，太聪明...she's forver so angelic just with the guitar alone. beautiful. 太有气质了！！ was very surprised that she wld sing 会不会 - 1 of my favourites as I thought it was a great song. Loved her rocker side in 太阳，吉他手，Self. this is wat i like abt her - can always hear the strength and "attitude" in her gentle, child-like voice. wA THE gUITAR Hero PK segment was amazing too. Especially with her boyfriend-cum-guitarist-cum-producer. so cool lo. I still think her bf very lucky hahaha...

I felt I didn't enjoy myself as much as I should have was cos I was sitting at the side. For Cheer's concert, I realise that one should have a centre view to see the whole stage, becos the beauty in her concerts lie in the whole stage presentation. Morover she seldom walks over to the sides - don't really utilize stage space as much as other ple like Jay or Coldplay hehe... SO next time must get a centre view!

But it was still a great concert. It was very nice of her to try to be close to the audience. Even saw the fun side of her, sailing thru the crowds, trying to take fotos with them and taking fotos of us, "spouting" words of wisdom - no wonder she's a philosophy major hehe...Being in the same venue as somone like Cheer just makes me feel a bit more "refined" hehehe... how i wish i can have 1/100 of her 气质 & 内涵 hahaha...

Coldplay - woohoo!

The day came, and went~ Coldplay's 3rd concert in Singapore (2nd one which I watched) was fantastically awesome! After 2 years plus, the music, the band and audience were still in tip-top condition (even though they seemed more matured than before haha) . Chris Martin was still as energetic as before, and charismatic and being able to bring out the "wildness" of the audience (just like me hhHA)... HE STILL prances around the stage, still hops and skips around, still falls to the floor spontaneously and sings lying down just like 2 yrs ago, but this time plays and dances with the Japanese paper umbrella under the raining butterfly confetti during Lovers in Japan. One of my favourite songs and favourite moments. Other than the giant yellow balls that were done before, the butterfly confetti segment really made me very happy and touched. Other touching moments of course include singing the very big hits such as Yellow, Fix Me, In My Place, and chanting to the ooooohs of Viva la Vida in unison. That's the thing i love about concerts. These musicians really have the charm, power and strength to "conjure" the crowd of 1000s of people to sing in unison to their songs. Very Amazing haha...

Other interesting parts of the concert was when the whole band moved their instruments and mics and mic stands to the back of the side to sing amongst the audience. Why didn't they come to our side?! we were directly opposite them! *sad* haha.. I bet the audience there had a remarkable night haa.. the Grammy award-winners were just infront/behind./beside them......

Yeap this time luckily got friends go with me, then can scream together hehe... will definitely go for their next concert!

一个在香港和台湾那么强手的歌手，演唱会门票迅速售完，来到新加坡，却得“沦落”到送票！新加坡人太不懂得欣赏好音乐了。。。。。

plEASE! If u enjoy good music, pls do attend Cheer Chen's concert on 4 April!. it's definitely worth the money. i guarantee plus chop you would leave Indoor stadium feeling inspired and like u've been listening to an angel sing or talk to u in the past 2-3hrs！

我被她电到了！实在是太有气质了！宛如音乐仙女。。。她的一举一动是那么的温柔。。。歌声那么动听，笑容那么甜，吉他弹得又酷！很抱歉，违反了“三不”约定，拍了几张照片。只因为这种时光太珍贵了，需要留作纪念，哈哈。。。

went to Cheer Chen's first autograph session in Singapore. Finally could see her up close and personal. Fell in love with her lo.. so pretty and oozing with so much 气质. She's so sweet too.. smiled to every fan and said thanks..

Coldplay's popularity and "value" has increased so much just after 2 plus years! the other time i went the tics were like half the current ticket price now....

Jiang Yu Chen suxks lor.. listened to her album at HMV yesterday. (y did I even do that??) Felt very disgusted. "shuddered" in disgust. this kind of voice also can release album. Times have changed. I'm now reading a Medscape article,and I think my favourite website now is UptoDate (although can only use it at workplace & not at home).

It's 1 more week left to end of satellite rotation and there's mixed feelings. Just like wat Yun said, a bit of the "missing" feeling. It's strange. Don't know why. I guess it's really quite interesting. See different cases, but maybe it's becos we're rotated to different levels haha...Now really thinking about it. But i still feel not competent enuff to be stationed at satellite. Blur blur one... hhaha.. hiya think about it next time la. Better get back to my case study.

OVerall, I enjoyed his album. Feed-good album. Not the best, but makes me happy.

Especially 魔术先生and 稻香.

魔术先生 - from the conversation in the beginning, the yodelling, the circus-like music, the cheeky lyrics, the change in tempo, till the blending in of 不用麻烦了, seems to me like he's having lots of fun@!

稻香 makes me forget my worries, especially with pre-reg, and just do my best n not worry too much.

给我一首歌的时间 is the typical Jay-RnB song. Thought the pre-chorus singing style was quite interesting.the opera-like 拉音.. hehe.. nice surprise. The MV sucked though. Just him trying to "moon-walk" and shots of the pretty lead actress. Waste time...

说好的幸福呢is a touchnng song! great 周式芭乐...Jay-ballad... 100% KTV hit!

时光机 is the kind where it's not easy to remember - not as much "commercial" hook, but it grows on you..

Hated 蛇舞. totally didn't finish listening to it.. reminds me of Jolin or other dancing-diva-wannabes...乔克叔叔 reminds me of 扯 which I didn't like too due to the female vocals. then this song also has that "fake" female vocals..also the intermittent laughters scares me haha...oh but the Spanish feel in the interlude is quite nice..

Despite that, the albunm's still on repeat mode for the past few days!

Anyway, went to his showcase @ Bugis Junction Toastbox, and it was great! Enjoyed myself & was grinning so much after the show, cos he's really funny and the songs were great!

Luckily my sis & frens cld get a table inside.. otherwise can't c a thing from outside.

So, his singing and guitar playing live was really superb! he can sing fast & slow songs equally well! 好想要挥霍 was surprisingly very good. was rather impressed by the 海豚音 at the end of 好想要挥霍。He cld hit it so well..wa...his guitar playing also.. fingers move fast, strumming/plucking patterns more than badminton. then in 早安！晨之美, he sang, whistled and imitated a trumpet　(oops or electric guitar?)hahaha...

even did a "rock & roll" version of ode to breakfast. he kept stressing on the importance of breakfast, and 早睡早起 haha...

his signature towel's also present. i laughed when he used it to wipe his face after singing.. it's funny to see him do that on stage lor..

will definitely attend his concert @ Esplanade in Feb next year!

Trying to study antibiotics now, but just feel it's too difficult to conquer.. sigh...the antimicrobial spectrum, the dose, the max dose, the possibility of combinations, it's just too tough... So much to know, so little time..

But i think it's also cos I can't prioritise... just went karaoke with my frens this afternoon. can't help it! gotta relieve stress! haven't been karaoke for a long time! But it was really fun. Really can relieve stress. And it's really great meeting up with frens after a while...& when we meet up, we complain about work. How time flies... now we complain about work, & not abt school..

Sometimes I really thank PSS for those SAturday sessions, so that i can see my fellow pharmers, although it's quite tiring la and cannot sleep in haha..

Can you believe it? I watched 12 Lotus last night. Not only that. I watched it with my mum and sisters! The last movie I watched with my mum was 黄金甲... haha...

12 Lotus - actually, I was quite impressed by the movie. and of course by Royston Tan as well as the cast, especially 刘玲玲. I left the cinema with a heavy heart - it was a tragedy from the beginning to end. But also I left the cinema thinking I've watched quite a good Singapore-made movie. Reminds me of that film module I took back in NUS. COme to think of it, it was really an interesting module. Made me ponder more when watching movies haha..

My mum & sisters didn't really like it. In fact my mum prefered Money no Enough 2 (which she just watched the past week with the aunties - so happening right? more happening than me lei!). I guess it's cause it's filmed in a more "artistic", more abstract, less "heartland" manner. I didn't watch 881 so I can't comment. But it's definitely different from Jacky Neo's films.

The storyline may be a little cliched, but yet the movie seemed unique to me. Although there were moments of comic relief here and there, especially the scene with David Gan haha..., it's a tragedy right from the start as i've mentioned. It's ironic that the father actually asked the daughter if she understood the meaning of the song, and her reply was just so true. She thoroughly understood the meaning and even experienced it when she grew up. It's also tragic that she had to seek solace from inanimate objects - 观音菩萨 & 苏打饼, after being "mentally tormented" by the tyrannical father & heartless lover.

I felt that it was filmed rather nicely, the way events unfold. There were quite a lot of symbols here and there as well. 观音菩萨，苏打饼 etc. The HDB flats that kept appearing as the backdrop for the song and dance was very Singaporean haha..

The music was moving. The main theme, the pitiful Hokkien song "12 Lotus", the guitar solos, the string ensemble instrumentals/pieces...It's also quite cute that they will suddenly erupt into song and dance - typical of musicals I suppose.

Finally, 刘玲玲's acting's superb. A schizophrenic woman living in her own world. Her voice's really good too. heehee...

K I better get back to reading up for Friday's discussion.

Olympics is nice to watch. Especially love the slow-mo replays. Can see the fit torsos of the athletes with their muscles in motion. hahaha... Also, I really admire the athletes. Train for so many years just for that short moment (or even few seconds) where they have to deliver their best. 真的是台上十分钟，台下十年功!!

I think most SIngaporeans watched the match last night. It was really exciting. My first time watching a table-tennis match actually. I find it quite amazing. Even though my family & I don't watch sports (& don't even bother about it), don't even mention keeping ourselves updated about the Singapore team, but last night, all of us just sat together to cheer on for the Singapore table tennis team. the last time we did that was during World Cup - the Korean match i think. & I think it's even more amazing that the whole Singapore would come together & talk abt it, and cheer the team on. The best part is that my family and I had always been cynical about this foreign talent thingy, but when it comes to the critical moment, we still gave them our full support. I guess it must have been hard on them... returning to their hometown but not playing for their hometown. thanks girls! 辛苦了！

Coldplay's new album, Viva la VIda, is really quite good. When I first listened, I disliked it, but after giving it a few spins, I thought the songs were quite "refreshing" for Coldplay haha... seems grander with stronger string arrangments, more "electronical", and another thing is it's a little "oriental". Still think they will sound really good live. Hope they'll come again.

Got scolding by customer first thing in the morning. Still a little traumatised.

The antipsychotic is driving me nuts.. almost...

sodagreen... sodagreen... soda soda soda green.... how I wish I was still there now... or forever there...

But it made me think about myself. Seeing them being so absorbed and so enjoying what they're doing, and better still being so good at wat they're doing (Ah Gong with the piano/viola, Qingfeng with his mesmerising & superb vocals, Jia Kai with his guitar gimmicks, Ah Fu with his rhythmic strummings, Xinyi with her cool basslines, Xiao Wei with his strong & metronome-like drumbeats) made me wonder.... They have really all found their place in life. Have I and will I ever find my place? Have you found your place in life?

Back to the concert... I felt that I didn't enjoy myself as much as I did during their 1st concert here last year. Maybe cos' we expected more from them, especially when their Taiwan concert was like 5 hours with 7 encores? hmmm.... Still didn't feel as high as I expected.. but nevertheless, it was fun swaying to their songs, and enjoying their banter on stage, & during the encore running to the front & being so close to them! Qingfeng's vocal prowess is still super amazing, & like wat my friends said - his control. His control over his vocals... Excellent. He REALLY is talented. Also, Ah Fu is cute! He just kept smiling throughout the whole concert. Very happy-go-lucky guy. The small string orchestra was a great experience too. Wonderful! Love sodagreen!

Haven't blogged for ages... cos of pre-reg...it's busier than school! DOn't think I have been sitting so much at my desk for the past 4 yrs doing work. It's neverending. Partly also cos I;ve returned quite a bit of wat i've learnt in school, so gotta revise. Brain's getting porous too, many things just leak out...

Well it's been abt 6 weeks of pre-reg, 1st rotation at OP is ending, and there's dispensing test tmr! Yucks! Don't even know wat to prepare or expect. Seniors just say must open eyes big big.. sigh..

The past 2 Saturdays - Chyan Ying's wedding, then Pharmacy's DnD. Chyan Ying's wedding was a JC class gathering la! So funny...Pharmacy's DnD was fun too! with many pple entertaining us. The band with Huishan, Beng Yi, Cynthia, Kaixin, Huiting, Siew Jin and Hui XIan. Very well-performed! Didn't know got so many talented classmates ehhehe...And the funny couples..hehehe... But as it was coming to an end, it really dawned upon me that the 4 yrs of school has ended, and that we're moving on to another phase in life. Getting a little bit used to work, but still not very used. Made some mistakes here and there and still quite blur. There's still so much more to learn! Learning never ends man..

Right now, just looking forward to sodagreen's concert. Too bad gotta give Singfest a miss, while Travis's in town! Sad! Want to see Travis perform live...

BTW I didn't know GTN ointment is for anal fissure, not for chest pain! hahaha...and nifedipine short-acting is for Reynaud's syndrome. But also saw a script for blood pressure? hmmm...

Am in a 哈日 mood this holiday. Been busy watching J-doramas, to catch up all the lost times during school ha...

Finished 3 dramas in 1 week - Hana Kimi, Nobuta wo Produce, Gokusen. Ya all quite old but nice shows lei... with nice cast too. Now in the midst of watching Hachimitsu to Clover (Honey and Clover) with Ikuta Toma in it, and gasp, Takashi Kashiwabara! I couldn't recognise him at all, until the 6th episode, even though I saw his name in the credits! gosh... he's so different now! Still remember his movie "Love Letter" and drama "Itazura no Kiss" left a deep impression on me (12 years ago!). Now he's only a supporting actor.. but oh well!

Honey and Clover - talks about the lives of 5 university students, their friendship and of course complicated romantic relationships. hmmm don't know how to describe it. There are moments of laughter and moments of sadness here and there, and it may be a little slow (pauses and hesitation), but it's still a beautiful drama - 唯美的作品。Also, the cast is good-looking lei. The girl, Hagumi, is really beautiful! Utsukushii desune! Super charming! haha.. of course not forgetting Ikuta Toma - cute!

Nobuta wo Produce - about these 2 guys with contrasting personalities and popularity in school who make a pact to a transform this transfer student who's being bullied by everyone in school into the most popular person - "produce nobuta". It was supposed to be a secret between the 3 of them, holding meetings at the school rooftop or Kusano's place, and in school they had to pretend they were not friends with one another, but throughout their remaining high school years, their friendship grew stronger, and they too helped each other to grow. Akira, played by Yamashita Tomohisa, was an eccentric and unpopular guy. Shuji (Kazuya Kamenashi ) was popular with everyone in school but was only playing his part in this "game". Nobuta (Horikita Maki - the girl in Hana Kimi!) is a little freaky and extremely quiet, and allowed herself to be bullied.

May have the elements of a typical high school drama, but it's deeper than that. That's much more meaning to it - the meaning of youth, friendship, life's just a game, only people can save people... blah blah...nice! And I thought the cast did a great job too! The eccentric Yamapi who can get serious if he wants to, the mysterious and low-self-esteemed Maki who slowly opened up to the 2 guys and who really has her "kokoro" in the right place (love the haunted house part - the haunted house that left the people who entered feeling really moved when they exited), and the "overly-matured" Shuji who puts on a mask to meet people, but actually loves people, loves his friends. Interesting drama la.

Lastly, Gokusen I. Again, typical high school setting, with rebellious students and a passionate teacher, but with a yakuza background. May be exaggerated at times, but it's funny, especially when Yankumi switches to her yakuza self haha.. but it's really touching when she goes all out to help her "precious" 3D students who are often misunderstood by everyone, and at the same time shape them and help them to grow. Yankumi's so cute, I too wish I have a teacher like her. Sawada Shin (Matsumoto Jun) was quite cool!

Beautiful and amazing. Waking up at 3am and enduring the cold morning (9 degrees C！）was worth it. So much anticipation, trying to set the camera appropriately and trying to get a good spot, looking intently at the red sky, finally seeing the first rays, and before you know it, the sun's already out, at full shine.

It's just like the sunrise... very beautiful, but it lasts less than 5 seconds each time it bursts into the sky. but still worth it.

1) TAIPEI - NEIJIANG HOTEL 内江

Was quite satisfied with Neijiang. Although a bit small, but it was clean and bed was comfortable. The receptionists and aunties also very nice and helpful. Moreover it's very near the Ximending station (5min walk), very convenient. Breakfast was sandwich with packet of juice or milk tea, but everyday the same type of sandwich heehee.. 没问题啦, as long as I'm full.

2)ALISHAN - GREENHOME 绿野仙踪民宿

Alishan has so many minsus! Saw a lot of forums recommend, so we decided on this minsu. Really has a homely feeling, and all of them very nice, then send us to and fro a lot of times. 刘妈妈's cooking's superb too! It was a pity there were only like 2 groups of us on the 1st nite 3)and our only group the 2nd nite! the young couple we saw on the 1st night quite friendly also la, although initially we didn't talk at all.

3) HUALIAN - STONE 石头的家民宿

Likewise, Hualian has countless of minsus that are very beautifully decorated, but since this is highly recommended by many forumers, we decided on this. The nicest accomodation of the 3. The room like showflat room haha.. and very comfortable too! Also 刘妈妈, but very friendly, outgoing and experienced in bringing us, especially Singaporeans， around. There were about 16 Singaporeans staying at her minsu that night!

Just finished watching Hana Kimi Japanese version in 3 nights. I'm so slow la, it's already been out for abt a year... now then watch. But enjoyed it a lot! 12 episodes only so not as draggy as teh Taiwanese version. I laughed so much while watching, esp the squabbles between the 3 dormitories, the confusion of Nakatsu Shuichi as to whether he's homo or not etc..and the Ou Yang Fei Fei part...wa.... can't believe it haha...Plus the cast all quite good-looking one. And supporting cast is really funny too!

The character played by Ella, the Japanese version girl,Horikita Maki, is more girl-ly, and very pretty! AS for the character played by 汪东城, the Japanese version played by Ikuta Toma is very funny and cute too, but less exaggerated ... as for Wuzun's character, played by Oguri Shun (who acted as 花泽类 in Hana Yori Dango), not bad la, quite cool also, and prob more manly? haha..

The one thing I like about Japanese dramas is they always touch more about the "humanity" side, the relationships between people, between a team etc.. always seem more touching and meaningful to me. Less romance and wishy-washiness as compared to the Taiwanese dramas.

Nice nice! Can't wait to watch the special episode!

1) AIRPLANE

Our Cathay Pacific plane to Taipei via Hong Kong. Food's quite good! Rather turbulent sia..

2) FREEGO BUS

The interior of the Freego bus 飞狗, to bring us from Taoyuan Airport to Ximending area, where our hotel is located. Very comfortable seats.

3) TAIPEI METRO
Interior of the Taipei Metro. Thought the seat arrangment was interesting. Like the fact that there are plenty of handgrips, 3 rows in total.

Impressed with the presence of "priority seats" 博爱位 reserved for elderly, pregnant women etc... very obvious, and lots of big big signs. Many people usually don't take up such seats.

Also like the LED display system, indicating what stations the train will stop at, as well as the present stop.

4) TAIPEI BUS （客运）
The "destination" ticket card, which we have to return to the driver upon alighting. We took the 新店客运 from 乌来 to 公馆. NT 57. Such buses usually require paying by coins. Not sure if can use the Easycard 悠游卡 (similar to our EZlink card).

5) TAIWAN RAILWAY

Tzi Chiang 自强 train (fastest of the 3, and most ex)

my graduation trip to Taiwan - overview

Haven't written anything about my Taiwan graduation trip since I came back. It was my first time away from home, my comfort zone, so it was quite an unforgettable experience. Fun, but super tiring! think I haven't walked so much since a very long time, but I thought we were all very li4 hai4, to plan and carry out everything ourselves, and we stuck to most of our plans heehee... Well, after this trip, I believe it wouldn't be my last visit to Taiwan. It's a nice and fun place, with many friendly and nice people around as well as beautiful scenery, and not forgetting the unique and good food as well as the many interesting shopping areas!

Some things that left an impression on me.

1) TRANSPORTATION
From the Taipei metro system to the high speed railway, getting around Taiwan and Taipei is a breeze. Convenient and easy to commute by, it is an important mode of transport for many, including tourists. will talk abt it in detail soon....
oh super impressed with the queuing when waiting to board the train. so orderly~! If only we q over here as well.. much "neater" ha.. and the "priority seats" in trains.. and they never fail to keep to the right on escalators.

2) TOILETS
Was impressed with the emergency bells they had in every cubicle. Quite "thoughtful" of them, I thought. And the toilets in the metro stations were so clean! so much cleaner than those over here. One thing that wasn't used to, was disposing the used toilet paper into the bin instead of the toilet bowl, for fear of clogging up the sewage system... hmmm...

3) PEOPLE
Friendly Taiwanese never fail to answer our queries regarding directions or bus fares hehe...and most youngsters dress rather well... as for the senior citizens, I find that a lot of them are really fit. See a lot of them travelling up and down hills and mountains, and even walking the trails (which "killed" me) at Alishan!

4)STREETS / CITY
Find it rather similar to Hong Kong. But the drive from airport to Taipei city reminded me of Malaysia hee..most places are really clean, despite having very few rubbish bins around.

5) SHOPPING
Not as cheap as I expected. Fashionwise, they seem to like layering a lot, in terms of clothings..

6) JAY CHOU
lots of shops play his songs. wonder if it's coincidental or he's really popular hehe..

五月天- 天团不是盖的！

Last night was totally a crazy night. Forgotten that I still have exams in abt 3 days time. Just totally lost in the world of rock and 五月天！

Although I don't know all of their songs, and can't sing without looking at the screen with lyrics, I still enjoyed myself tremendously, as the crowd was super high - when the concert just started, we were already on our feet! And the band is really tight and had lots of 默契！of course the climax was when they ran across the length of the stadium towards the centre stage - right at the centre of the stadium. This was really a treat for those who were sitting right at the back, since now the members were just standing right in front of them! And it was 玛莎's birthday last night, so the whole stadium sang a birthday song for him! and with the cheeky members, they kept saying zhu, zhu, zhu during the last line (which could mean 猪！) HAHA.. and along the run, they often stopped and sang amongst the audience - face-to-face! lucky people sitting in front!

think some memorable moments were 石头 singing a song written for his kid (his voice is good!), the bandmates without 阿信 singing 孙悟空, 阿信 singing 洋葱, 阿信 singing 最重要的小事 with the acoustic guitar, and the band-mates solo! think 怪兽 is my new favourite 吉他手 - really cool man! And of course the very high songs, like 恋爱-ing which got everyone chanting "L-O-V-E" for real long!

Schooling has ended for me! After don't know how many years.. let me think...6 + 4 + 2 + 4 = 16 years of school... mugging.. tests, exam,s lectures, tutorials, projects.. now has come to an end! And I;ll be a 社会人 soon....unbelievable... don't feel like it..

My 4 years in pharmacy school, although had been really not easy, cos so much to study, and school's always been hectic (5-day week very common!), but it's been an experience. And have come to appreciate that so much is done to bring that little pill to the patient.. from lead compounds, drug discovery, pharmaceutical analysis, dosage form design, tabletting, formulation studies, PK studies, clinical trials to patient counselling... wow... the small pill really comes a long way...

And not forgetting the bunch of pharmers, of whom 90% are girls haha... quite a fun, amiable, friendly and cute bunch! heehee..and my "clique", alwayts thinking what to eat even before lecture ends, always eating yong tau foo, drinking milo, and keeping a lookout for the milo van! all the gossips and "hala-ing" during breaks, the cold jokes, the "suan-ings"..haha... thanks friends, for all these memories.. and lab partners as well! apologise for being so slow always ha...it was fun working with u guys too!

k really must jia you for this last leg! although i know this is only the beginning, since pre-reg will be much more tough ha...

I thought that it was by an English band, but it's actually by this Taiwanese singer-songwriter, 黃建為! I remembered that he won an award at the 金曲奖,but did't bother finding out who he was.. so now I know.. and also he's slowly being recognised in Sinfgaopre, that's why.. Wednesday's 早报 had him, today's 100。3 talked about him as well... nice nice! quite relaxing, his songs.

and here's a pic of me and my poster! the effort of travelling twice to Sunshine Plaza was not wasted, as I won something for the poster competition hehehe...

Here's another pic of my FYP lab-mates and our very important postgrad student, Emily, who helped us so so so so so so much throughout the FYP period. Really really grateful for her, guiding us along, assisting me with the assembly and cleaning of the milling machines, helping me vet through the terribly written and raw reports and basically just seeing us through the whole thing. Without her, I wouldn't have known what it would have been like. Thanks so much Emily! And thanks for the treat at Foster's at well! But I still can't believe 3 of us lost out to u in paying... we were too slow... haha... And thanks to these cute cute FYP lab-mates, Jiayi and Wanyu as well! All the complaints, the whinings during the meetups early in the morning and the staybacks in lab after school... the encouragements and support...We finally finished this!@ heehee...

And these, are pictures of orchids taken at....... Novartis! Saw these pretty orchids at the reception area of Novartis in Tuas. Went for this fieldtrip to the manufacturing company, and got a chance to don the "cleanroom garments" made of Tyvek, and got blown by this super fans & walked through double-lock doors. Got to see the high-shear mixer, blender and the huge IBCs heehee..

And then, AC actually let us see some Parkinson's disease videos from youtube on Friday, and thought it was quite sad... the resting tremors, the shuffling gait, the rigidity, bradykinesia... really affects functioning, and very disturbing or irritating to the patient. And the levodopa-induced dyskinesia was really not a good sight at all as well... really wonder how the patients can cope. think the worst thing about growing old is all the sickness, illness and disease that come along. It's sad.. when you have to 度过晚年 in such a manner. sigh..

Think ah, I better go mug liao... haven'; started for Tuesday's test.. sigh...

Woohooo! although exams n CAs still not over, still feel really really good, as i can finally bid goodbye to FYP! now that it's over, come to think of it, it's really not that bad. It's truly an experience, now I';m glad I got the chance to do FYP, cos all the stuff that I did for FYP, don't think I'll have the chance to "touch" them again in my life, unless, well I research in that area, which I think is impossible as research is not my forte, or unless I join a manufacturing company hehe... well, you never know what will happen right? who knows 10 years down te road i'll be in a herbal company, optimising the milling of herbs! hahahaha....

So, although I was one of the 5 who did not get scheduled to present on Saturday, it was actually a blessing in disguise, aS I had more time to prepare, as well as more time to recover from my potent virus! My potent virus got me really sick for about 1 week plus, everyone's so scared of me, and thinks that they got my potent virus! luckily all the sniffing and coughing's gone! happy hehe..

Nevertheless, while I was in the midst of all the blowing-of-nose and wet-coughing, I actually still attended KT Tunstall's concert in Singapore! All the wrong priorities - didn't attend lecture but attended concert ahha.. but I was sick wat... and paid for concert ticket already.. so go lor! haha... And sure I didn't regret going. She's really a great singer-cum-songwriter-cum-guitarist-cum-entertainer-cum-moodlifter. Think she cured my flu la haha... she's so funny, witty, down-to-earth, and her singing's so fantastic! The music was great, atmosphere superb, audience as cute as she was, and just really fun! Her voice's powerful, but when it comes to the acoustic numbers, her voice's so clear and high registers really resonates. Love the backup singers as well, and the drummer with the , guitarist with the cute mandolin, bassist, trumpet....and finally saw her live having fun with the audio loop! and her guitars were really beautiful too! i think she had 4? 2 electric, 2 acoustic. dam cool! ahah..wonderful night! hope KT comes back again!

So waited for pple to post videos onto youtube and didn't take any, since i was sitting quite far away. no point ma.. fotos didn't turn out well too..

哎哟！不错哦！周杰伦真的很忙，在台上也超忙的！不但要换七，八套服装，还得弹钢琴，弹吉他，弹古筝，击鼓，跳舞，扯铃，唱歌。。。。真的是太精彩了！我觉得我不是再看演唱会，而是在看周董表演，耍帅！

他不愧是亚洲小天王，每一个举手投足能得到大家的欢呼掌声。而我呢，光是看到他就已经high到不行，根本都没理会其他人！每次看演唱会都很失态，唉，不懂大姐的朋友有没有被我吓到。

不管了！豁出去了！霍霍霍霍霍霍霍霍！！！这是encore的时候大家都在喊的！哈哈。。。

我不能再写长篇大论了，因为还有很多事没做！值得一提的是他古筝真的是弹得很棒，扯铃时也是太帅了！跳“牛仔舞”（牛仔很忙）和“僵尸舞”（本草纲目）时也是太可爱，太棒了！弹钢琴就不用讲了。是有目共睹的帅。而他在和辣妹g共舞时的尴尬笑容真是太好笑了。。哈哈。。南拳妈妈改编的不能说的秘密也很搞笑，什么“从安静到千里之外都用同一个和弦”。。。而那位女生拉的二胡也是很好听，太有feel了！

还好他有演唱几首脍炙人口的旧歌，如黑色幽默，安静，开不了口。可惜他没唱很多其他的歌曲，如我不配，青花瓷，回到过去，还有很多我喜欢的旧歌。奇怪的是我最讨厌的阳光宅男和甜甜的都让我很high!

觉得最美中不足的是他好像生病感冒了，所以影响到演唱功力。。。而且也太短了,11pm 就结束，太早了！

尽管如此，我还是觉得这场演唱会超赞的！杰伦真的是很用心，很卖力，而且服装造型都很好看，都很有视觉效果！我也觉得他的嘴巴很甜，不过没说太多话啦。。还逗我们，问我们要他几时再来开演唱会，明天还是明年，哈哈。。

HAPPY 2008! SO fast... 2007 has gone and 2008 is here... But life's still the same..

and recently, been busy watching COffee Prince - 咖啡王子1号店. really funny, interesting and cute. Although a wee bit draggy towards the middle. A bit like 花样少年少女, but less childish since the setting's not at school. Great cast as well! Yoon Eun Hye 尹恩惠 's really cute, and so natural in acting! heehee... the lead actor's also quite man. and the supporting actors very funny also...and the dog! Old English Sheepdog! so cute! Haha... and I like the OST, rather easy-listening and different from most Korean OSTs.. nice..

Just gotten sodagreen's album from HMV for 29.95! But it's worth it, cos it's so good.... and also, it was very cool that all 10 tracks seemed to be linked together, as there are no breaks between them. The transition / links were made very smooth by the ending and beginning instruments such as guitar linking 四季狂想 (track 3) & 左边(track 4) and the piano linking 左边 and 无与伦比的美丽 (track 5). They must have taken great pains to do such linking up of songs! This 3rd album has a lot more strings, and sounds much more grander than their previous albums.

Ooooohooooo!!

阿妹的演唱会超 high 的！五年没见，她的舞台魅力还是依然那么精彩，声音还是那么的有爆发力！她真的是一个diva!!!

我隐约记得小六的时候就开始看演唱会，（对，我真的很幸运，年纪这么小就有机会看演唱会 - 而且都是姐姐赞助的喔！）第一场印象中应该是阿妹在新加坡的第一场演唱会。从那次以后，我就认定阿妹是我的偶像，我的最佳演绎具舞台魅力女歌手！从此，她在新加坡的每一场演唱会我都有去。（加上昨晚的，应该是有4场了吧！）还记得有一年是在国家体育场，从来没有亚洲艺人在新加坡体育场办过演唱会！虽然那次她好像蚂蚁一样小（因为坐很远！），但是我还是超享受的！

这十年来，她的每一张专辑我都几乎有。记得有段时间她被封杀，她的好伙伴与朋友张雨声过世，过后人气就下滑，专辑里的歌曲也没以前那么动听。。。经过许多起起落落和风波，她还是回来了，但也已经失去了当年的风姿，因为“天后级”的位子已给别人坐上了。尽管如此，她的每一场现场表演都能够证明她是台湾的天后，台湾的骄傲，是实至名归的。

又好像讲了太多了！现在就来说说昨晚的演唱会吧！

演唱会从8.20持续到将近凌晨12! 演唱会开始前，我跟大姐还在排队上厕所，后来听到大家的欢呼声，没想到演唱会这么早就要开始了！真的蛮好笑的，在排队的女生有些干脆不上厕所就跑回去了。。。

就象其他的演唱会，她从舞台中央的platform缓缓的升起，头上的“狮子头盔”show了一下就拿下来，就开始演唱新歌“永远的快乐”，这时候，全场已经热烈的欢呼！过后就唱了几首快歌，但我都不记得了，因为太开心。。。

她的头发剪到好短喔，但很好看！而且她一直拨弄头发，真好笑！可能不习惯吧。。。他的服装呢，就每一件都是闪闪的，我都觉得很好看！那件红色星星的最特别！

这次的演唱会是四面台，大家都能看到很清楚。而且我很庆幸座位非常好，她也一直面向我们这边！可能是我们都很热情？？哈哈。。。我每次都觉得她在对着我唱！哈哈哈。。。

她演唱了很多经典歌曲，而且几乎每首歌都是大合唱，因为全场的观众都一起唱得很大声！记得，听海，原来你什么都不要，我恨我爱你，剪爱，真实，我要快乐，别在伤口洒盐，让每个人都心碎，蓝天，A级娱乐，了不起，high high high，发烧，火，bad boy,不顾一切，are you ready，牵手等等....新歌包括维多利亚的秘密，你爱我的，夏天的浪花，也当然少不了如果你也听说。我觉得这首歌她唱得最有感觉。。。本来我不喜欢“夏天的浪花”，因为觉得很台，但在演唱会上一起唱真的很好玩，尤其是副歌的部分，哈哈。。。

其中有一段是怀念张雨声的，她唱了“最爱的人上我最深”的另一个版本，还有对唱的版本，最后一句还和雨生合唱。。。她还清唱了“天天想你”。最喜欢的还是“后知后觉”，超感人的！真让我听出耳油！可惜她没唱“没有烟抽的日子”。。。

最后一段，她只穿了黑t-shirt 配牛仔裤，现场秀了秀她的吉他功力，自弹自唱了“爱是唯一”和解脱。

encore的时候就唱了姐妹，三天三夜，给我感觉，我要飞。她还故意让每个音乐家唱一句“姐妹”，超好笑的！他们都超棒的，记得有一段Jamie Wilson 还躺在地上猛烈的刷电吉他！说到音乐家，大多数都是来自新加坡喔，好骄傲哦！吴庆龙又出现了，而且是音乐总监吧。。。太厉害了。。。阿妹就是特地要整他的，让他开金口唱一句。。。

好了，不写了，二姐在取笑我，说我很会编故事。这不是故事好不好，是我的真正感想。。。哈哈哈。。。

期待她下一次再来！！！

Presentation down, last dispensing practical down, still got 2CAs next week.. but don't care first....now looking forward to A-mei's concert!

And just received Jay's album. After resisting all those online listens, downloads etc... just prefer to listen ti the real thing haha.... however, no feeling at all, after the 1st "scan-through". Now giving it a 2nd listen.

I'm not happy with the recycling of the OST songs... although they are nice, but it just shows his insincerity.

Shall give a review soon...

I usually don't like to complain, especially on this blog, since I try to use this blog to share what I like, what I'm happy about etc... but everytime I look at my new thumbdrive, I jsut had to think of it again...

I've seen one of human's ugly side on Wed. And it had to be from university students. I can't believe Uni students would still be so dishonest, after all the education they have been put through.

I left my thumbdrive in Central library after working on some stuff. And I lost it forever. Went back on Wed night to look for it, went to Lost and Found display cabinet but still no sign of my thumbdrive. Wasted time, money and sweat. I was utterly disappointed and angry at the same time.

NVm abt the thumbdrive. But the data inside. It was full of schoolwork, data and especially FYP data. The person who didn't hand it over to librarians or lost and found counter and decide to use the thumbdrive as his/her own, YOU ARE INHUMAN! what if the original owner didn't had a backup??? then all hard work gone?? sickening man.... why can't just pass over to lost and found counter.... u want thumbdrive, go get your own la! shit man...

OK i promised myself to get over it.. luckily i had backup. if not i sure cry until faint.... better backup in more places - CDRom, hard disk, thumbdrive, online storage... must be more kiasu

Jay's 2nd 主打歌！According to jc.net, it's actually a song, First Kiss from the Secret OST. 为什么我没有印象嘞？But I think it's so unlike Jay also...It sounds very familiar, but can't recall anyone or any song. Definitely not Jay-ish to me...hmmmm... but nice...the rap in the middle is Jay already. Yay... haha...

But please I hope he doesn't recycle all the tunes from the Secret OST! That would show that he's very insincere!

Ahya might as well 一次过 post what stuff I've found these few days. Kept seeing her name appear, didn't know who she was nor heard her songs, so I youtube-ed her name la, and now thinks she's dam cool.... She's not exactly pretty, but she has that kind of "sei", the style, attitude. And her voice's warm and strong. I like! She's KT Tunstall, a Scottish singer-songwriter.

And I think the kind of looping system she often uses in her live performance is dam cool la. Suaku me didn't know such stuff existed.

Oh then ah, today when I was on the bus, I saw something that is usually not seen one in Singapore. There was this man who kept bending down when standing, I thought he has some muscle weakness or something, or that he fell asleep, but it wasn't. It was a conscious effort in the bending. Then a few people, a girl, and a beng-looking man, and me of course, kept looking at him. The girl, like me, was smiling to ourselves, cos don't know what he was doing. Maybe he was exercising or something. Then finally, the beng-looking man asked if he was OK, and he said it was cos of his foot or something. (I was listening to music, didn't hear their conversation.) But then later they actually had a friendly conversation. hahha...it's quite rare for me lor, this sight. Everyday, when we board the bus or MRT, everyone looks so glum and are so abosrbed in their own world. When would you see strangers striking up a conversation? haha...then they even "grabbed hands", like best buddy like that haha... so cute...and secondly, the beng-looking man isn't that beng afterall... do not judge a book by its cover.

K la, better get back to proper work...

SO many things happened today... good and bad ba...

early morning had driving, and my driving is rubbishly horrible! sigh sure fail one la...

then had a mini potluck with my friends in sch ahhaha...

then finally i thought ending of the day returning to the lab was a bore, but I actually saw 2-3 cockatoos outside the lab, in the trees! COuld tell that they were cockatoos cos of their crest. But it wasn't yellow... seemed white...I wonder if they escaped from the birdpark... but my friend and i were saying Jurong birdpark quite far lei... ahah.... it was quite a sight, from the Pharmaceutics lab, my friend and I observed it for about 10min and stopped doing our stuff ahhaha...

then there was another squirrel which wanted to steal 1 of the bird's food. that bird seemed to be grasping onto an orange, and it was diligently peeling away. I don't know if I saw correctly, cos it's quite far away la... but quite interesting ah ha...then I think there was also another crow? But 2 against 1, the crow eventually flew away.

I so agree with the journalist - her voice's so sweet and almost child-like, but yet you can sense the strength and resilience in her voice. hehehe...

After the night of escapism, I had to return to reality to finish my assignment before school starts again! Sigh...

But, it was magical, mystical, almost heavenly, and pure enjoyment, happiness and fun!

When she opened with the guitar-only 九份的咖啡店, I felt as if it was an ANGEL on stage. Her voice, her costume, her image, the stage setting, everything was just so angelic.

She sang a couple of slow songs, of which some I wasn't too familiar with. The acoustic version of 躺在你的衣柜 & 就算全世界与我为敌 was refreshing. I thought it was a pity she didn't sing the original version of 躺在你的衣柜 . Then slowly, and rock came as the band fell in - the accordian, the guitar, the drums...

Her only English song, Sentimental Kills was as cool as she was when she donned a red mask. Can't remember the repertoire of songs, but she also sang a French song, following which she sang 一起去巴黎. Didn't hear it before, but it's nice!

The crowd went high when she paraded round the audience in a "float" while singing 女明星. My friend and I just rushed to the front but got shoved by the security guards. I only managed to catch a glimpse of her and her beautiful red hair...

After that, it was high all the way when she sang a series of rock and familiar songs - 躺在你的衣柜 in its original version! Didn't expect her to sing it twice. Her favourite song?? haha.. and 让我想一想，华丽的冒险 etc.

Then of course there was 告诉我，还是会寂寞，小步舞曲，80% 完美的日子，腐朽，静静的生活，我的骄傲无可救药，温室花朵。。。。

旅行的意义 was so touching - don't know why... then some die-hard fans really brought along their helmets - so funny! It was beautiful - the whole song, and the whole atmosphere.

The climax and hype and fun of the whole thing actually lies in the encore - as there was not 1, not 2, but 5 encores!!! How exciting is that! Most people just didn't bear to leave, even after the bossa nova music came on, and credits rolled. So we just kept cheering and clapping while she kept appearing on stage and just sang, since she said 不太会讲话. So everyone just rushed to the front, stood on the
chairs and swayed along with the music. I waited until my favourite 太聪明 came. And After 17.. very nice... and some other songs which I don't recognise, but were equally good.

We finally left only when people came on stage to pack up... still so reluctant...

Cheer's such an angel - both her voice and herself are angelic and serene. Her music is an ode to life and being able to live life peacefully.

She's so soft-spoken, and shy, I think there were less than 5 min of talking throughout the whole show, only singing, but that's all right. Cos the music could bring across what she feels - her passion for music, life, love and everything else beautiful. The fact that she love summer shows her passion for and optimism in life. Her music's just so relaxing and peaceful and serene, we are allowed to leave behind the mundanity and problems in life and escape into her world.

It was so true when she said that we are really lucky to be able to be present to relax and immerse ourselves in the music while others are probably engaged in battles of life.

She's such a humble, sentimental and lovely, talented lady! I really feel her oozing with charm, intelligence and beauty. Zhong Chenghu, her boyfriend's really lucky.

Can't believe it! Mid sem break's here! I thought school just started....Been really busy, and sleeping late - never slept before 1am these 6 weeks... other people's last year in school so "eng" one, not like us pharmers... think 4th year is the worst.. and somemore must learn to be independent, cos of FYP. so scary.. but quite interesting, and quite good la, learn to learn, not just be spoon-fed all the time haha..

That's a picture of what I have been working with, and breathing in... from China one lei.. for the past 1-2 weeks have been milling/ grinding them down - so much dust breathed in! a bit worried... but since it's a herb, should be beneficial? haha i don't know lei.. But my lab coat's so dirty lor... like underwent some "sandstorm" haha..

DOn't think it';s just some ordinary bark k, has medicinal properties one...It's called 厚朴. It is a "wind-dispelling" herb, for gut problems heehee... But that's not the main topic of my project. Hard to describe wat my project really is about la haha..

Recently, radio keeps playing this song, and it's "hook-y".

Talking about scary, the tremors yesterday were really scary... For the first time in my life, I actually felt the earth and myself shake - I thought I was dizzy, but it really shook! It was such a small tremor here and already I felt so scared with goosebumps popping up, I really can't imagine how the people at the scene itself felt... I feel that recently there has been lots of natural disasters... very scary...

不能说的秘密 - 赞！！！

I'm so tired I want to sleep, but I just had to blog about this before I forget tomorrow.

Anyway, I am super impressed with Jay after watching Secret. 你没看错。我这个超级杰伦迷到今天才去看<不能说的秘密>!

观看前，还以为这个赚钱赚到手酸的大明星对于当导演只是三分钟热度。观看后，又再次的对他倾慕，觉得他真的是很有天分，而且是个天才。不论他当歌手，当创作人，当钢琴手，当吉他手，当饶舌歌手，当导演，当演员，当狗仔队的头号目标，当南拳妈妈的师兄，当魔术师，当耍帅的艺人，当孝顺的儿子和孙子，各个角色都能扮演得很好。可能是因为他的处世态度吧。当他决定要做一件事时，就会很认真，尽心尽力的把它做到最好。可能他也是个完美主义者吧。

Spoilers below! For those who haven't watched Secret, (slower than me ones), go watch go watch, and be awed by Jay ! hahahaha...

Anyways, I love Secret! The little romantic antics, the witty dialogues, the funny expressions, the beautiful settings, the old antique piano, the trees etc etc..

The cast is excellent. Gui Lunmei is a very elegant and pretty lead character, 很有气质, and she successfully portrayed the character as a mysterious girl, whom even I want to know her better aha... and she';s so natural. She looks good even without thick makeup. I must applaud Jay for having such good choice, in choosing girls haha..

As for Jay, I heard that his acting improved. And I do think that it did! He looks much more natural here than in "黄金甲". Maybe cos different genre, and this is his own film that's y. Also, there seems to be more expressions from him now - the mischievous, cheeky look, the sad face (omg I especially love the very last scene - when he had a bit of tears. reminded me of 开不了口' MV haha..), the flustered, scared look....

I love the fact that Jay incorporated music into the movie - how the whole movie revolves around music. His dad in the movie even commented that people who don't listen to music are bad kids. This sounded very familiar, as I remember Jay once said that music is good, and usually those who listen to music are good kids.. haha..

It is also very heartwarming to see that his house is full of music - the racks and racks of CDs, the guitar hanging on the wall, the piano, even his dad is into music.

It was also very romantic that the couple got together because of their love for music, and the times where they enjoy music together.

I especially love the piano duel scenes, not only because of Jay and Yuhao's superb piano skills, but also because the way some scenes were shot. Such as the zooming in and spanning across of the piano inside, the wood and hammers and the whole mechanics of piano playing. I felt that it was really cool!

I was totally surprised in the later half of the movie. At first I thought 小雨 was a ghost! But it turned out otherwise, and it turned out to be very unbelievable. I immediately thought if Lake House...The thought of 2 lovers being separated by time and space - it was so heart-wrenching! Especially the scribbling part... and when 小雨tells her part, everything falls into perspective and it just gets sadder....

I like the way he fills up the bits and pieces in when 小雨tells her part. It made the story feel fuller and more complete. Otherwise, it would have just been a typical, cliched romance film.

However the scene where he was furiously playing the piano away while the walls & chandelier come tumbling down, it was a little exagerated. But yet I think it showed the turmoil and anxiousness and eagerness of him to finish playing the "key" piece.

The last twist at the end was yet another surprise. But my sis and I were saying, what about the poor dad? haha..

I think some may say the whole thing is so illogical and not understandable, but again like Lake House, it is precisely this irrationality and "twisted logic" that makes it nice. Don't have to think so much, why like that, why go back bla bla bla..

And I lvoe the OST. Regretted not buying it earler. See la now everywhere also sold out, even HMV! sigh...

我报 - 发现苏打绿后台精彩花絮

As for my first week of school, not too happening. erm.. is a test in the 1st week of school happening? haha... and as for FYP, didn't get my 1st 3 choices, but oh well, at least I got 1 out of 6 choices... sometimes it's so strange... statistics or probability just don't quite make sense.. maybe it's just 天意haha..

苏打绿 - 今年夏天特别绿

What makes a band? What makes a successful band that can touch the hearts of the listeners, that can"high-ify" the listeners, that can make listeners drown in their music?

I would think:
a charismatic lead singer + brilliant music arrangement + talented musicians including all the instrumentalists & lead singer + music that can tug at your heartstrings + camaraderie between the band members + simple but sincere interaction with the audience + tribute performance to their music influences + pure music enjoyment

and I believe 苏打绿 sodagreen last night fulfilled all my so-called criteria to be a successful band!

I didn't know about them only until this year, I never bought their albums until recently, I didn't know the band members' names (now I know very well!), I didn't attend their autograph sessions in Singapore the other time, I haven't watched a single of their live performances, but I just felt drawn towards them and daringly bought a concert tic with my friend, and voila! I love them so much now!

3 hours of live 苏打绿 made my Saturday night truly memorable! Now I feel that I am drawn closer to them, to their music world, and understand them better!

青峰's voice is amazing! His vocals are so powerful, and he never goes off-pitch, and his falsettos were hit so beautifully and resonating throughout the whole auditorium! His vocal range is terribly huge - I think most females can't reach those ultra high ones! Also, he injects so much emotions into his singing, especially the ballad-style songs. 背着你 was my favourite! It was so touching, we almost cried... But when he sings those fast songs, it's like 脱胎换骨 - he's so super high and is able to 带动情绪!

The keyboardist -cum - violinist - cum- dancer 阿龚 - I don't know what to say! His piano & violin skills are so 神, but his dancing - haha quite funny la!

The acoustic guitarist - 阿福 is very cute also! The banters between him and 青峰 were so cute and funny!

The bassist - the only female in the 6-man band, 馨仪 is super cool and chio la! So stylo lor!

The electric guitarist - 家凯 is so 帅！He looks so good playing the guitar!

And lastly the drummer - 小威, although he's blocked by the drumset, his drumming skills are incredible, and he was so pitiful when he was "chided" by 青峰 haha...

So now on to the repertoire of songs they performed. Mostly from their 2 albums & singles, a lot I'm not familiar with, but I enjoyed songs that I've heard such as 背着你，是我的海，你喔，小宇宙，小情歌，频率，you are you will, OH OH OH OH! I also enjoyed the covers they did. They made the songs theirs la! Some English songs that I'm not familiar with, 1 by Radiohead and Toxic by Britney Spears, some Chinese singers who influenced them musically, 我只在乎你，天空 (王菲 's version la!), 夜太黑，旅行的意义，女爵. Superb! & during 夜太黑 they actually invited a saxaphonist who was as superb as them! Cool!

The best part I believe was a 2nd encore that was impromptu where I truly felt like I was at a rock concert, probably in Taipei haha..After the official encore, the music and lights came on, and some people have already left, but mostly sayed back. hoping that the band will pop up on stage again, and indeed they did, and everyone rushed to the front! We were just like below the stage, so close so close to them! And they did requests from the floor. Ended off with 我的未来不是梦 which left me with some strong feelings.

他们勇于追求梦想，所以才有今天的成就，所以才能让我们欣赏，享受他们的音乐，而我的梦想又是什么呢？我也不清楚...

Tonight they'll be performing again at an original composition competition organised by NTU, but I decided not to go, as school starts tomorrow... sad...

必须整理一下心情，为最后一年的新学期作最后的冲刺！

I didn't think that such a dog breed would appear here... But today as I was taking a bus home, it appeared - the lamb-look-alike, triangular-faced dog - Bedlington Terrier! I was rather amazed by it, I smiled and turned my head back to look at it as the bus zoomed pass haha...It's head's really funny, and it looks cute haha..

So many concerts, so little time, and not enough money! Really wish to go to 陈绮贞's concert, especially so when I missed her mini showcase 2 years ago, but my sisters not interested, meaning no sponsor + no company! sigh....

I "advertised" sodagreen's concert on my blog the other time, and there was 1 taker hahaha...so any takers this time?? haha...

I had wanted to wait for the gai ban, but couldn’t wait any longer. I just had to get my hands on the album.

I was really surprised & glad when I saw the album. It was super thin and was just a simple case made of recycled paper with the CD inside. But it was flimsy, so I must take extra care of it. Compared to his previous albums which were packaged “lavishly”, this is much more “down-to-earth”, and I mean it literally as well. I actually prefer simple CDs. I don’t like it nowadays when every artiste has such huge rectangular albums that are thick somemore – can’t fit into my rack! Furthermore, it’s such a waste of resources! Why must there be another paper cover when the contents are the same on the actual album itself and the useless outer paper cover…

Oops but I believe the pre-sale albums are huge. Lee Hom’s Taiwan presale albums I mean. (Singapore didn’t have any! =( )

After reading some reviews online, in the papers & in magazines, it’s time to write my own!

I just got it the day before I think, and I have been listening to it since. This and only this. I don’t think I gave 盖世英雄 Heroes of the Earth，his previous album, so much radioplay as this! Actually, everyone has been saying how great GSYX was, but frankly, I didn’t enjoy it so much, don’t know why.. I think cos it’s too new – the chinked-out style that Lee Hom invented, or that I’m not exposed to that kind of hip-hop music. But XZDRY was OK. Nonetheless, I still think XZDRY & GSYX were 2 definitive albums of creative Lee Hom. And I’m really glad actually that he didn’t continue this chinked-out 风格 haha.. Actually, the way he sort of temporarily leave his chinked-out风格behind and go on to 改变自己 was really bold, as some critics may say that he hasn’t found a niche or something. (actually there’s traces of 中国风here and there la). But this is the exact reason why I like him, as he is constantly thinking of how to bring newer and better music to everyone by changing his music style and music theme for every album. And it’s really nice that nowadays artistes actually think of a main theme for every album.

On the whole, I think it’s a very “down-to-earth” album. I feel as if he’s trying to return to the 90s, the earlier “era” of Mando-pop – easy-listening songs with melodies that can hook you up. I feel as if he’s trying to tone everything down, get back to what most Chinese-pop listeners are familiar with, but at the same time he has infused a modern feel into this music – as in you may feel like it’s a 90s song but you definitely know that it’s not. Haha I think my explanation sucks…I feel that he’s trying to connect with the listeners only through his music, his singing and his heart.

So what does this album have? Sad ballads, you got it. Feel-good songs, you got it. Party songs – you got it too. Rap – the “in” thing now, it’s there. In fact I enjoy Lee Hom’s raps. They are listenable, & you actually know what he’s rapping, not like Jay or Edison, & has his own style and rhythm. Of course I like Jay’s raps too, but wa can’t tolerate Edison’s raps. His accent is so strong I don’t know what he’s saying. Oops sidetracked..

Think I’ll just do a track-by-track rundown la..

1. Intro – a very apt intro song. I can anticipate this to be the opening song for his concert. Very grand and “pompous” haha..

2. 改变自己 –
upbeat song which makes me want to stand up and move to the beat. Catchy tune too. Main message – 你我的力量也能改变世界 – do your part to help reduce global warming. He’s jumping on the bandwagon to bring the “green” message across.

"今早起床了觉得头有点痛可能是二氧化碳太多氧气不够”

Actually this is not the first time he’s mentioned about global warming. People may misunderstand him that he’s only making use of the trend now, to give his album more publicity. Traces of a “green” Lee Hom can be seen in “你和我” and an English song “Nature” written by him which I first heard of in his compilation album “Evolution”.

3. 落叶归根 –
the opening strings – beautiful! The song – beautiful! Lee Hom’s voice – beautiful! Initially I thought it wasn’t written by him, as the lyrics booklet stated that it’s written by “Kuang Y.M”. I thought who is this songwriter? How stupid can I be! It’s written by his alter-ego la in the movie 色戒。The character he portrays in the movie is named “Kuang Yi Min”. hhaah..

I probably won’t have as much feel for this song as one who has been away from home. But it’s moving and beautiful.

4. 创作前言 –
it’s nice! A mixing of his different songs all these years - like a dedication of the next song to his fans

5. 我们的歌 –
I believe it’s for the fans. I still remember in GSYX there was this song his fans wrote for him. So now it’s a return gift? Haha..it’s a catchy song with “personalized” lyrics. Especially like this line – “如果世界太危险只有音乐最安全带着我进梦里面让歌词都实现”. I think it’s so true – music is like a reclusion for everyone, a shelter from this crazy world.

6. 你是我心内的一首歌 –
duet with Selina! I never imagined that he would ask Selina to duet with him! Haha.. but their voices do blend! It’s a “pretty” love song which has the retro-feel and I prefer it so much more than David & Jolin’s “song of the year”! Yuck!

The music arrangement is nice and gives a romantic feel. I like the saxophone in the middle! But the ending I felt was quite abrupt – the “cha cha cha” beat haha..

7. 爱在那里 –
it gave me a feeling that I’m listening to Jacky Cheung / Andy Lau’s classic oldies. The music arrangement and all. But it has a modern feel to it, especially the way he sings it with the vocal backings. Very soothing and easy-listening. Has a bit of ZGF ba.. but the chorus’s a little repetitive towards the end.

8. Cockney Girl –
a hip-hop song with some raps and reminded me of 竹林深处. Talks about his “神奇的巧遇” with this London Cockney girl who can speak Mandarin during clubbing in London. Quite a fun hip-hop song which shows his “party mode”.
Other than that, he emphasizes his love for music again “想追也追不到音乐是我的呼吸不用想太多它自然在我的身体里” & the main theme this time around –改变自己 - “带你从纽约到乌鲁木齐从京剧昆曲现在到伦敦的Cockney 有些人只会重复自己但是 not me”。Er.. was he referring to Jay? Haha no la probably not. 我太多心了.

9. 不完整的旋律 –
this song grabbed my attention. The lyrics may be sucky to some, but I feel that he’s talking to us, sharing with us his love and passion for music in this song through the lyrics and his singing.

“心里有个旋律不完整的歌曲你是否听得出来我拖了一拍” – I wouldn’t expect such lyrics in a Chinese pop song! And honestly, I couldn’t really tell how he dragged the beat ahhaha…
“不完整的旋律没什么结局却是我真实的声音” – how earnest & sincere can he be..

10. 爱的鼓励 –
a lively and upbeat song with a very suitable title. It’s really a song of encouragement. Love the piano in the background plus the jazzy piano interlude. And the piano’s played by him!

11．华人万岁 –
a rap song which shows how proud he is to be a Chinese. Quite a fun and happy song, basically a “Woohoo I’m Chinese!” kind of song. I especially find these few lines funny :

“从来没有人说过中文 LIKE THIS 标准可是加了黄绿红的TWIST. 黄绿红! 王力宏!”If you don’t know, it’s actually his nickname which he kept adopting since the MacDonald’s advertisements ahha..

“做一个领袖做一个领袖领和袖我都有” – funny lei…

12. 星期六的深夜 –
a moving love ballad. With just a piano and a guitar played by him, he brought out the whole feel of the song. It sounds like a Western song to me though. But it’s sad..

I feel that this album’s rather introspective – a consolidation of all that he’s done so far, and in turn, giving a new feel to his music. It’s like Wang Lee Hom reborn haha…there won’t be any tracks that you will skip, but I guess there may not be a song as memorable as Forever Love, Kiss Goodbye, or 唯一. But I love this album a lot – gives me a sense of familiarity, security and comfort.

Wa another long album review. It is only during the holidays that I can write such album reviews haha..

cHANGE topic to movies! Just came back from watching Transformers & I enjoyed it! I actually dislike all these robot movies, like I-Robots or whatever, but I must say I enjoyed this! Don't know why also...

Maybe cos the transforming process was something new & cool to me, cos I don't watch the cartoon nor do I play with the toys. But I remember my cousin playing with them when young, & I remember everytime during transformation he would make the "voosh voosh" sound effects. So this time when watching the movie, I vaugely remember the childhood times, and I see this transforming scaled up 100s of times haha..

The storyline's not very fantastic, in fact rather cliched with aliens wanting to control earth and the battle between good & evil. But the sequence of events flowed well & the effects were great. The transforming process from the very cool-looking cars to the giant robots was rather "breathtaking" as well haha..

It's action-packed - battles between the autobots & lots of bombings everywhere, and there's some humour as well. I especially liked the scene when the autobots were in Sam's garden. They were like gentle giants, the autobots..

And it wasn't Sam who stole my heart, but BumbleBee! Bumblebee's cute! For the first time I actually felt something for robots! Actually not really.. I remember AI too.. It was a touching movie about artificial intelligence. but they don't look like robots.. Robots in my opinion are scary & freaky. But not the autobots in Transformers haha..

So I recommend this movie!

歌神 God of Songs

I finally get to see the "God of Songs" 歌神 perform live. And I am extremely amazed by him.

At the "not-so-flattering" age of 46 for a celebrity, his stamina, energy, showmanship, and most importantly voice were superb!

He has been singing longer than I am born (When he debutted I wasn't even born yet) and it's great that after so many years, he's still bringing moving and fantastic music and performances to everyone.

I especially love his bassy & manly voice and the way he soars effortlessly to high registers and all his soulful, moving and emotional renditions of his classic ballad hits.

From Chinese classics 每天爱你多一些，吻别，情书 to Cantonese classics 只想一生跟你走，李香兰 to more recent works 在你身边，我真的受伤了, his live singing is indescribable with words... they were just too perfect.

And the songs he wrote for his daughter and wife, they were beautiful! He must be a very good husband and father...

Also, I didn't know that he could dance! His dance moves were sleek and energetic, and at his age, I think he's so good！ It's no wonder that he perspired perfusely already at the beginning with a few of his fast numbers (which I wasn't too familiar with). And he was so high, that the newspapers commented that he was 颠 (Canto, means crazy)! He defended himself, saying that only when performing fast rock songs can he scream like nobody's business, and screaming's really a relieve of stress and bad feelings. I didn't know that this heavenly king's really quite humorous too! The way he connects with the audience and interacts with us was a very good feeling.

I was surprised that he even incorporated a half-hour musical into this world tour. Actually I shouldn't be, since the 2 musicals that he starred in, Snow Wolf Lake (雪狼湖) & Perhaps Love (如果。爱) were so successful. But it was a regret for me that the musical featured only 1 Snow-Wolf-Lake song 爱是永恒. It was after watching 雪狼湖 that I truly admired this heavenly king.

And it is after watching this fantastic concert that I believe, the stage belongs to him. Performing is really in his blood, and he is blessed with a "heavenly" voice.

昨晚真的是让我听出了耳油！听学友哥唱歌真的是人生的一大享受。绕梁三天。。荡气回肠。。哈哈。。（滥用成语）

就如他所说的，他真的是用了他的心去唱歌，所以才能那么感动人心。

虽然我没能跟歌神在音乐的路上一起成长(因为他大我两倍!)，虽然歌神在最后一首歌的最后一句出了点状况，但歌神在我心目中还是完美的！

Wa... my junior said I very long never update, so here I update. Now I know at least there's 1 person who reads my blog .. haha..

It's been more than 2 weeks since my attachment ended, and what have I done?
Hmmm ...

Went for driving lessons which are super stressful; Went for wisdom tooth extraction which scared the hell out of me; watched some dramas; , went for guitar class which is causing my fingers to hurt; , went to Ikea to get CD rack and mini-bookshelf which were fixed up by other people but myself; ; arranged my CDs; arranged the PILs that I collected during attachment; arranged my mp3 files; wrap up my newly bought BNF, DIH & DiPiro handbook but never read the contents...

Now that I;ve listed them, they don't seem very interesting, do they? And it seems I've spent quite a lot this holidays... ooops...

Time for videos!

台湾偶像剧 - Most of them are rather silly, CRAZY and stupid, & rather draggy at times, but very entertaining and funny, especially with the cast. I think an important factor that pushes me to watch videos is the cast.

1st drama - 热情仲夏 - starring 郑元畅 & 五熊

Typical Taiwanese drama with the girl who falls in love with the guy who disliked her at first but changed his mindset as he discovers her passion (that's why the title 热情仲夏) for life and pple around her, and of course her passion for him. It's really similar to 恶作剧之吻. Very crazy and rather funny, but it's much shorter and sweeter with 12 episodes only!

Nice supporting cast by 小鬼，阮经天，the very beautiful 张毓晨 & 阿信（信乐团)also.

Here's the main song's MV. 你要什么就说MV－小宇 (热情仲夏片头曲)I have no idea who's this singer. Anyone knows?

2nd drama - 爱情经纪约 starring 杜德伟，许绍洋 & Lara
This is a more serious drama revolving around artiste management companies, showbiz, & deception & most importantly an interesting couple, with the guy being 18 years older than the girl! hahaha...But Alex To is rather charming and man, so it's no wonder it happened heehee...Lara's first drama - not bad for a first drama. 许绍洋's quite good-looking, but his Mandarin cannot make it.

The plot's OK la, at least there's some storyline. And it's not too draggy either. 15 episodes I think. Nice ending too!
